EDIT: I know that I give out a lot of advice on this topic, and many of you TFans out there are wondering "yeah, well if he's so good, why doesn't he post some pics?" I'm hoping to have some pictures of my work to share with all of you soon. (that is, as soon as my friend decides to finally lend me his digital camera!)

I'm looking forward to it. :D

I know I'm crazy but I want to change one of the RiD TF's altmodes. So, while keeping the transformation scheme intact, I want to make a new head and body. I can find the make and model I'm looking for as a model car in the right scale but it's diecast and so the hood/engine can't be detatched to form the arm/shield...

So, what I'm considering is actually molding the model in some sort of quick-drying clay and removing the identifying details and then impressing the relevant parts of the die-cast model into the mold to give it the new shape. Problem is, I'd probably fill the mold with more clay and I'm afraid that would be more brittle than plastic once the new parts were finished.

Do you have any good advice for molding new parts?

I'm thinking of starting out with a Spychanger and some sort of HotWheels-ish toy in the same scale to get a feel for what I'm doing.

OK Guys, I thought I would add a small tidbit of info.

I'm working on repainting an armada wheeljack into a sunstreaker. Before this model, I have used the cheap spraypaint or even krylon. They always looked ok, but they didn't have a good even spray.

Yesterday I used the testors small spray paint that you find at the model section at walmart and it was a thousand times better. Nice even coating and the spray was wider... meaning a better coating and less possibility for drips or pooling.

So, if you want to use spraypaint, I would suggest getting the testors spray paint... it's better than the 3 other brands I used... and I've painted a few TF before... so I know how crappy the other stuff is now.

Hope this helps someone.

Here are the ones I've worked on recently.

The 2nd one was the one I used the testors spray paint on.

Also, your right about the nozzels! I switched out one from a different style of can and it helped the krylon, but I still don't think it "spread" as well as the testors.

anyway, here are the links:
