Next project: Shockblast's cannon

Recommended Posts

I plan to give my Shockblast a second "normal" arm, and modify the shock-cannon into a clip-on sleeve that slips over his arm and latches onto the back of his forearm.

His two arms (regular and cannon) are completely interchangeable with each other at the shoulder, so swapping his cannon arm with another SB's "regular" arm will be the least difficult part of this.

For the cannon, I'm gonna have to completely cut out the battery compartment and gut the electronics (big loss there :P

didnt somebody do a mod on his arm once before?

i think someone just put landmines arms on the guy and left the big gun off.

Well, tonight I cut the battery compartment out and ripped out the electronics (everything but the pressure-switch that activates the sound effects when the missile is launched).

I still can't get that slaggin' barrel tip off. Any tips for softening the glue they used, without damaging the plastic?

I also tested it out on his right arm. I had to cut off the minicon peg (or whatever that peg is.. hopefully, it wasn't important.. :redface ..if it was, I can just use that arm to complete the project and replace it with the second Shockblast's right arm.

Aside from that peg, the thing on the back of his arm that the little double-cannon connects to, and the launcher bar being in the way, the test run worked pretty well.

This is my current thinking: the launcher has a standard release lever/button, which hits against the sound-effect switch, which is what launches the missile at the same time the sound goes off. Near as I can tell (without being able to completely dismantle the cannon yet), the launch button ends up somewhere under the fold-out black support, so I think I can just glue the launcher in place there, drill a hole under the black support, and bash a button into the hole to press the launcher.

As for the energon "claw" and solar panels, those can be manually posed, and I don't have a huge problem with that.

With the bar out of the way, that arm should fit (snugly) into the empty space. (dunno quite how I'm gonna work the locking mechanism--if it still needs one--although, with that slider bar out of there, that leaves the slider's track to work with... of course, the minicon peg prolly would've been helpful there. :roll ..then I could've fashioned something to peg onto it. Owell.. if it IS just a minicon peg, then there's always the new toy's arm.

Only major obstacle after that is that his left shoulder is a ratchet joint (helps support the over-sized cannon arm), and if I switch that out for the new arm's shoulder, I lose the molded 'Con symbol. But, that's a minor concern, to be dealt with after the redesign of the cannon is finished. :thumb

Sounds like a great idea.

Can you take any pics of SB with both normal arms?

Just as soon as he -has- both arms. I haven't bought the second Shockblast to cannibalize yet. :D
