The following Autobots get "powered up" in the show:

Hot Shot

Ironhide

Jetfire

Cliffjumper

Landmine

What I don't get is why Hasbro is releasing only two of them with the same name with the word "Energon" in front of it, but changing the name of the other three

Landmine turns into Landquake

Cliffjumper turns into Beachcomber

Jetfire turns into Overcast

Why not release these other repaints under the same naming format that they are with Hot Shot and Ironhide, and just call it Energon Jetfire, or Energon Cliffjumper.

Not to mention, I don't even think that Bulkhead gets powered up in the show, nor does Omega Supreme.

Optimus I can see getting a power boost, due to the fact that he's supposed to be on par with Galvatron, so him getting a repaint on the toy and getting "powered up" in the show I can see as a definite possiblity.

And I'm not even going to get into the Terrorcon/Omnicon repaint issue.

As far as the Decepticons are concerned, I don't even think that Mirage gets "upgraded" into Dreadwing. I think he stays Mirage for the entire show.

Its to retain the use of the name, and not loose it to another company. This way Hasbro can retain the names under copyright law, and continue to use them in the future.

Well...

I have no clue why they only repainted some. In the tv show, they made it Bulkhead, Wingsaber etc are in the healing bay, so they cannot get upgraded.

Also, I think they wanted to make recolours to get more sets in the energon series. Besides, I like the repainted Landmine.

PS: Slugslinger couldn't make the show... So I suppose Dreadwing didn't either.

Omega Sentenial Is in the show, there are 2 of them! They are the other 2 bots in Omega Supreams Chamber.

it says on the Tf site that dreadwing is a corruptyed clone of mirage

There are 3 in that chamber, know-it-all.

Take note that Hasbro's "continuity" doesn't really follow the cartoon plot. They even have several new molds who are non-show characters.

It's several of the really "big names" in the show who aren't renamed. It's likely this is done as a sales manuver.. "oh, Hot Shot got an upgrade mom, I need the new one".

Least, that's my speculation on the reasoning, anyways.

Rofl, going by the Tech Specs, Mirage is a whole lot better off corrupted =P.

I think all these tech specs are based on the comics, I'm not sure though.

Yeah, but it also says that Landquake is Landmine's brother, and we KNOW that Landquake is really just the super version of Landmine.
