Should Hasbro have a "3rd party-killer" toyline?

Recommended Posts

As it is no surprise to anyone Hasbro does not like 3rd party tf toys. So what exactly has Hasbro been doing to stop 3rd party tf toys from being produced? Bitching and whining is all I've seen since they have no legal grounds to do anything about it. My suggestion to Hasbro would be to produce a line of TF's tailored EXCLUSIVELY to collector's (we are the one's buying 3rd party after-all) these would obviously be at a higher price point since they'd have limited production runs, and virtually an unlimited R&D budget, and licensing where applicable (before anyone bitches about paying more than $15 for a Hasbro deluxe, just remember you paid $400-$600 for an unofficial Devastator). Also remember Masterpiece and Alternators I am not counting, this line would be all in scale with each other, including scouts, deluxes, and voyagers. Let me know what you think and maybe we can get a petition up

I'd like it, but chances are I could store an ice cube in Hell indefinitely without it melting before it happens.

Hasbro has done several confusing things lately...

They are going after third partys saying they are "Cheapening the Hobby" and stealing a huge percentage of their sales...

Then they state that adult collectors only make up 5% of their sales demographic.

So I am confused... so 5% is not worth messing with, were not their demographic. But then when someone does cater to the 5% and makes insane profits "in hasbro's eyes" then BURN THE CHURCHES AND RAID THE VILLAGES THEY BE STEALING OUR TOY MONEY!

Hasbro is just a bunch of Douche Bags. End of story.

Damn can of worms.... had to open it again didn't I, lol.

Takara's caters the bulk of their TF toy lines to more older teenagers/adults.

Hasbro caters it's TF toy lines to younger kids from ages three to age nine.

Hasbro doesn't want to cater too many TF stuff towards adults/teenagers because they don't think that many buyers will buy it. as hasbro clearly states, they think the TF fan base barely makes up 5% in TF toy buying sales worldwide.

to answer this threads subject title question "Should Hasbro have a "3rd party-killer" toyline?" the closets hasbro is going to come to this is in 2013. when Hasbro releases 40 new mold generations toys. I'm sure releasing 40 new mold generations toys in 2013 will no doubt have a negative impact on the 3rd party TF toy market. especially if Hasbro makes similar things to what the 3rd party TF toy companies are making & releasing in 2013.

Clearly Hasbro/Takara needs to step up their game & make better & more superior 40 new molds generations toys in 2013. if hasbro/takara wants to compete with what 3rd party TF toy companies are making & releasing in 2013.

If Hasbro/Takara wants to win the battle/war in 2013 with these 3rd party TF toy companies. then in 2013 only creating tiny TF toys like legends, basics & deluxes isn't going to make them win this war. Hasbro/Takara when they create those 40 new molds generations toys in 2013,if they want to beat these 3rd party TF toy companies then their gonna have to create the following new molds generations toys in 2013: Combiners,Voyager sized toys,Ultra sized toys, leader sized toys & maybe one new mold supreme sized TF toys.

I suspose to sweeten the deal,Hasbro/takara could create a few updated G-1 homages in the TF prime toy line is 2013 like as follows: 1980's 5 man combiners done in the TF prime sculpted aesthetics style. a few 1980's city formers done in the TF Prime sculpted aesthetics style. a few supreme sized toys like TF Prime rocklord/planet/bot Unicron. Maybe go the extra mile & have a few Takara G-1 exclusive character/toys in TF prime's toy line like Overlord, victorysabre.

Hasbro/Takara can have a few G-1 Tripple changers characters/toys done in the TF prime toy lne sculpted aesthetics style like voyager sized blitzwing, voyager sized springer, voyager sized broadside, maybe sixshot,horrorcons,double-dealer,quickswitch. BASICALLY TTHE MORE TF G-1 HOMAGES HASBRO PUTS & DOES IN THE TF PRIME SCULPTED DESIGNS/TOY LINE IN 2013,THE MORE HASBRO COMPETES with those 3rd party new molds in 2013.

Hasbro only said 40 figures in the new generations line, not 40 new molds. It's guaranteed that 1/3 to 1/2 of these will most likely be repaints of the new molds or from previous lines, it's also likely we'll see more than one rendition of the same character over and over, most likely missing key character specific features which would be easy to include if Hasbro gave the line a higher budget and price point. In conclusion will the new Generations line be a "3rd party-killer"? Not a chance

Clearly hasbro/Takara needs to clarify on this at various TF conventions in 2012. until then,i'm gonna dream positive/optimistic that hasbro will be creating 40 new molds generations toys in 2013

All Hasbro is doing is trying to scare people away from the 3rd parties, because it is true they have no legal grounds to go after any of them except for IGEAR. As far as profits go, I bet Hasbro knows that the TF Fanbase makes up way more then 20% of sales, they just don't want to admit to it. Cause if they did they would be forced to listen to us, So by saying 5% it keeps them safe from admitting that they need us.

As far as the 40 new molds? I highly doubt it. I would say there will be about 18 new molds, some recylced molds from past lines, and a few repaints to round out the 40 new figures.
