Yeah, payment problems surely sickens the work. Know all about that (am still own several thousands of euro's in backpay as a result of a promotion -- and the fight to get it is about to start). I can well understand if they left because of continous late or partial payments.

Isn't DW making enough money to pay its creators? And if that's the case, should they be publishing the TF books at all? I can't believe Hasbro isn't looking at this, wondering if they put their money on the wrong horse. I'm still kind of surprised they didn't go with Marvel again for teh new books. At least Marvel would have gotten them out on time and got their people paid.

of course DW are making money, and lots more by not releasing outstanding fees, these guys will win but the problem is cost and time and thats how these businesses are run, grind down the little man untill he cant go on.

they should petition hasbro too to make them aware of what is happening within DW

The info we have, says that "they left", and then after that, they are in litigation for "they rest of their momies owed" (implied 2 seperate things)

It NEVER says, that they left because of their money status, or not getting paid. In that statement by them, is still left up in the air, as to the why.

And being its something, in litigation, it might not be known, if ever.

Its a company, with now 2 ex-employees, who are in a dispute.

And the 'hush hush' can be because it is a legal situation, to be worked out, privatly.

And, somewhat rightfully so.

Just clarifying it a bit here.

Maybe WE should petition DW and tell them we're not buying their comics until it's proved that they've paid what they allegedly owe. :tfgrin

Wonder if Dreamwave wanted to take things in a different direction, the creators left before they could do so, and now they want money for scripts and/or artwork that may or may not be used in future issues?

It happens all the time, sadly. Comics are almost always done on a freelance basis, and gigs come and go. Sometimes the freelancers take it very personally when a company decides they no longer need/want their services, even if the company is under no legal obligation to keep a creator past their contract.

While the comics biz is sometimes shady, it's hard to believe that a company as prominent as Dreamwave would deliberately not pay their employees. :tfhuh

Although, something liked this happened right before CHAOS! comics folded. Creators weren't getting paid, there was some grumbling, and the company went under only a few months later. Dreamwave isn't even close to being as solid a company as Marvel and DC, and they're a very young company at that, so it *is* possible they've made some financial blunders -- especially if the books aren't even getting out on time.

Any chance some of the major TF sites could get more info out of Dreamwave -- an interview or something?

*cough*CrossGen*cough*

What I want to see is not US to petition to HASBRO, they won't listen if money is involved.

I want to see the FANS petition to Don Fig and Joe Ng to QUIT and go to another company. Like Marvel.

With only Pat Lee, Chris Scathead, and Simon Furman, DW TFs will collapse.
