that's terrible..

i do like the look of the new packaging however.. and it's cool that bumblebee looks like he'll be getting two guns rather than the first editions one.

Damn. that's disappointing to see.

The thing that's really coming up most curious to me is the Bedbug issue. If the workers are living in conditions with Bedbugs, wouldn't that mean there's a potential that the figures could be transporting bedbugs as well?

Sadness indeed. I'd like to have thought that the conditions that my favorite toy line are created in weren't exploiting people like this. Probably why there are such things as QC issues because, who want's to create quality when faced with deplorable conditions?

C'mon, Hasbro... you can do better than that.

We can all say we are disappointed, but it really comes down to the fact that even if we all know about this, we won't stop buying the figures.....and this is exactly how they can sell figures for $9.99 or less and still make a profit. We love it because we want the figures to be cheaper, but unfortunately it is at the cost of these workers lives. Would you pay $20 for the same deluxe figure if it meant improved conditions? Sadly I would say a majority would say no.....and thus the cycle continues....

And supposedly it would be too expensive to make them in the States. I'm sure this has been going on for years and will continue.

Did anyone think China was anything but a Communist state?

This is the story of every product made in China. It's unfair to zero in directly on Hasbro and Transformers when practically everything made in China is like this. Including the computer the writer probably used to write the report and other items used. Want change? Change the tariffs and laws that allow companies to outsource cheaper than domestic manufacturing. Honestly, Hasbro and other companies contract the labor that can do the best job for the best price, it's not their place to rule how that company runs its operation. Sure they could change companies, buts what's to say it wouldn't change? It's sad and unfortunate, but that's how that part of the world works.

Honestly, haven't the news already covered this before?

Too expensive for a company that makes $1 billion on just TFs?

Yep, yet there are quite a bit of things that are made in the states that are cheaper, then the same items overseas. Once business's decide that coming back to America is profitable again. Which for quite a few things it is. Plastic is cheaper in the states after you compare the cost to making the items in the states to the cost of Overseas Outsourcing. The only problem with Transformers is most of the original molds are still owned by Takara. so those would still have to be made overseas.

Except that Hasbro and the other distributors have enough leverage that production could be moved elsewhere if it was deemed more profitable.
