Sorta Pissed Off at BBTS at Moment

Recommended Posts

So I go onto BBTS today and Pre-orderd the MakeToys Trailer and when I got to My Account page it is showing my order for Fansproject Backfiery has been canceled. What gets me though is my payment went through and I know damn well I didn't cancel it, so why would they cancel my order?

So of course I sent an email to them asking what is going on and if they issued me a credit on my Credit Card. All I know is I better not be paying the 51.99 if it was their screw up considering I had originally pre-ordered it at 47.99.

So if this has happened to anyone else, how was it resolved. Any answers are much appreciated.

Are you sure you didn't get an email about the cancellation? I had a pre-order cancelled on me once and they had sent me an email about it when it happened. That was a while back tho.

Nope, I never got an email from them or anything. I got a reply back from them saying my card was declined and thats why it was cancelled. I call BS on that because it sat in my Pile of Loot for over 2 weeks. So now I have to buy it for $51.99. What I think really makes me upset is that I have used BBTS for 4 years now and never have had a problem. Alas, there is nothing I can really do.

From a debit/credit card stand point, the charge from BBTS may have been sent off to your bank/CC company and then either bounced between them and the bank *possibly* because of declined status(a charge sometimes can or will be ran multiple times due to various issues, those being system issues, NSF's, routing issues ETC.) And that can sometimes take up to 10 business days to resolve, AKA two weeks. I'd contact your bank and see how many times the charge was attempted and/or declined(if that is the issue) and then have them trace the issue if you actually did have sufficient funds and go from there. Also, if this is on a major credit card, contact the company and have them argue on your behalf if things are not lining up properly, it's what they do.

If things are good on your end, contact BBTS with paperwork ready for faxing or copies for emailing and ask why the order cancellation and if you're so inclined, ask for the pre-order price and go from there(and hopefully you kept your pre-order email with that price listed in it as your proof of order and pricing). If they can't or won't play to good customer service, maybe you should shop elsewhere from here on out.

I've worked in customer service for years and for a large credit card company handling customers queries so maybe this info will help you out. Good luck!

Hopefully I'm not responsible since I told my mother I'd like all three of the Insecticons for Xmas. heh.

The black Chara-Hobby ROTF Soundwave was cancelled on me which ended up being better. I found it for half the price at Botcon a couple years ago. And they did send me an email recommending that I cancel it because supplies were more limited then they thought.

Let me get this right. They cancelled your order AFTER taking payment, and instead of sending you out the item you paid for they gave you a refund.

Now, was the figure on sale at the time on their site for the higher price?

If so, and they refused send the item or give you the original price even though you had paid it, then I think you might make a good case for fraud. Granted, it's small potatoes, but it is fraudulent. Seems akin to the old bait and switch scam.

I had an issue with them. After being a really good customer for a LONG time, I had a botcon set on preorder. At the time the convention came I had some emergency expenses drain out the cash I had for it, so I wanted to see if they could hold off the charge for a couple of days until I got paid. They said they couldn't do that and that I would have to just cancel the order and place it again when they placed sets back up. Of course that price was over $100 more than the preorder price. I asked if they would still offer me the preorder price and they never replied to me after the original email.

I've hardly used them ever since.

You cant expect a business to hold a charge for something. Especially when that something is a high priced, in-demand item like a Botcon set. You ask them to hold a charge and they are to just take you on your word? Why bother with the headache when they can sell it to someone else? They aren't out to be your friends.

As for the preorder price thing, I can understand why technically they didn't have to do that but it would have been a nice gesture. But even still they don't owe you anything.

It used to be back in the day that a retailer would do courtesy type things for folks who were considered valued repeat customers. Our repeat business, and lots of it is what gains us credibility. Or so it used to. I didn't care if they held off charging it or however it got done, I just wanted the price of the preorder. That was most certainly a courtesy they could have extended me considering the ungodly amounts I had previously spent on their site.

In fact, I didn't even ask them to hold it initially, I explained my predicament and simply asked when they were planning to start processing the orders. This was at the very end of the convention, so I would think they could have given me some idea. First they told me they didn't know exactly when and I didn't want to get stuck with a big overdraw fee so I asked if they could hold off the charge or work out another way so I can get the preorder price and that's when I got no reply. They got the email too because I mailed it a few times. I waited as long as I could then cancelled it.

Fact of the matter is, they didn't sell it to someone else, not right away. The sets hung around for awhile after the Friday I got paid came and went. I just wasn't going to spend the $100 more for it. When it was all said and done they emailed me back saying I should have just kept the order placed and let the charge get declined and it automatically would have been re-billed a few days later, but by then it was too late. Odd they simply didn't tell me that right off from the get-go but they probably really wanted that extra $100 per set.

But yes you are right. They just sell it to someone else. On the other hand, as a shopper, I can then choose to spend my money somewhere else. BBTS at the beginning was top notch in every way, but I've heard more and more people becoming unhappy with them over the past couple of years and it all starts to add up.

I wasn't really angry. Business is business, and in the future mine goes elsewhere. If TF Source knew this story they'd probably send BBTS a nice thank you letter!

The really sad irony here was that a couple of people I know had the set on preorder with them as well and didn't get billed until that Friday anyway.
