FansProject Protector With Sidearm Out of the Box

Recommended Posts

Really amazes me that this is a group of no more than a dozen fans putting this out. From concept, to engineering layout, to prototype, to color design, and production, its really more than what we play with in final form. Do they maximize profit - I really don't think so. So, here's to the FansProject team - Thank You! Now, how about some pictures of my Shadow Scythe?

Awesome it shall be mine. Now hopefully they can fix Universe Galvatron and we are set

FansProject is better off making a whole new Galvatron.

Before that happens, we still haven't got any more news regarding those silhouettes from Botcon(?) last year or the year before.

I don't care much for the combined vehicle mode, but it looks like it'd be a fun toy. I think I'll pass based on price and my waning interest in Classic style toys. If that weapon platform thing could some how combine with the big gun from the City Commander set, I'd buy it.

Waning intrest in Classics? As Opposed to Bayverse?Blasphemy! :tfevil

Im sorry, but i have been watching these things get released for awhile now but does anyone know how these amazing toys are created and produced. Anyone I can contact?

You come up with a broad concept (ie tank turns into robot or add-on kit to existing toy). Jot down notes on play gimmicks (firing missiles, a driver, whatever). Integrate said gimmicks piece by piece into your concept via sketch, keeping in mind articulation and transformation. Use CAD (computer aided design) software like 3DS Max 2010 to sculpt a virtual prototype. Then invest thousands of dollars into a metal cast mold with your prototype. Spend more money on raw materials like screws, pins, springs, paint, and several colors of plastic. Hope to god you have a connection with someone in a factory that can produce your molds. Use Photoshop and artistic skills to create a story board, transformation manuals, and packaging mock ups. Find a retailer that wants to risk buying in bulk your item. Sell for a price that is affordable to your niche market. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but try the "Contact US" button on the FansProject.com website.

LOL. You'd do better to go with the first suggestion. These guys are extremely hard to get in touch with. While they encourage suggestions or design recommendations on their site they NEVER respond. Don't get me wrong, I still have a ton of respect for what they do. Afterall, for such a low employee count they get a lot done, and I guess that it should be expected that their responses don't take any priority.

Also I too wonder what ever happened to those broadside and wreck-gar figures they were boasting a year or two ago..... Def want the Broadside!!!

BTW this looks great but I'm still not digging the turret cannon. I know its a throw-back to the G1 but it would have been nice to have another transformation for it. Did they learn nothing from the Big-Gun kibble being garbage when not in use? It was just a huge block of barely-modeled plastic with no alt-function or storage. Oh well.....still can't wait to get mine. :P
