2007, they kept the American names for the live action films, and carried it over to Animated, since in Takara's minds, they were adapting it as a prequel to the Bayverse films.

I actually like a few of these repaints. The Classics repaint of Megatron is pretty nice. I like the lack of chrome and more G1 paint scheme. i also like the WFC megs they did being darker and that Deluxe class prime is nice though it's that crap mold again. I like the US version of the Classics reissue BB better with the twin black stripes on him. The rest are barely repaints and thankfully not drastically different so I can save some money but...I think I might want to get their Straxus as i like the lack of red trim they did a little better.

All seem a little unnecessary to me. I agree about the Prime being junk if you are talking about the "spinning-punch" prime, but I liked the WFC Prime. What's odd is that Megs has the opposite issue as his Voyager Gun mode is nice but his WFC mold is crap!! As for the WFC Cliffjumper I think I'll get but I wish they'd have thrown in some new weapons with that new head mold, as he was always packing more heat than BB. I haven't been able to get my hands on the WFC Soundwave yet but if they do make a Blaster I hope that it isn't a repaint of Soundwave again. As for the Classics BB mold I still don't understand why he didn't have some sort of weapon. I would pick up this repaint if they fixed that. LOL The real trade off in getting more figures is that the quality goes way down. My only beef with Tak is that they specialize in repaints ONLY with very limited mold changes. Honestly I couldn't even see a difference in the figures posted from their previous versions (which most I own). Oh well. ;)
