Transformers United Straxus and Packaging Design Reavealed

Recommended Posts

Check out this new look at Takara Tomy's Transformers United Straxus that has surfaced on a newly posted Taobao auction. The image shows the Transformer in package along with our first looks at what the United artwork will look like. The artwork that is shown on the card of Optimus Prime Versus Megatron, is too cool for school. Get a full look at it after the jump. Then leave your comments on the Japanese goodness below. I like the US packaging the best. I like that in the US they still put drawn artwork on the boxes / packages of toys. One of the few good things left....

Holly generic packaging! That's bootleg level right there. They couldn't even be bothered to draw a picture of Prime and Megatron duking it out, they took photos of the two Voyager figures, ran them through some photoshop filters and called it a day. At least Hasbro goes to the trouble of getting art for every character drawn onto the packages, Takara Tomy is just getting lazy.

Maybe the back of the card has all kinds of artwork on it? The front of the card certainly looks dull. Unlike Henkei, there is really nothing about Transformers United that looks superior to what Hasbro made; even the G1 colors Seaspray.

Isn't Takara's packaging minimalist anyways? This doesn't seem much out of the ordinary to me :shrug

I don't know about that as I don't do much imports of anything put MP figures.

I find it humorous that this is true...since I love the Japanese Artwork on Games. Great example of this is Dracula X / Castlevania

Japan - Dracula X : Nocturne in the Moonlight - Fenominal Artwork on the Disc, Cover even comes with a soundtrack

US - Castlevania - Symphony of the Night - Dull scary Castle and the words Castlevania and B&W instructions

I am surprised as Takara MP boxes are well done even though they are with Figures. Looking at the Transformer Collection series they have the Artwork on them as well which look way better than the US releases of these.....

I guess this is what's going to be the standard packaging style for all of TakaraTomy's mainline TF products. It's extremely similar to their Animated packaging, aside from using United Megatron and Optimus instead of the Animated Voyager counterparts of these two. The back will likely be...slightly more interesting.

That's a...stupid comment.

Maybe they put a lot of their budget and effort on the toy, rather than on a piece of cardboard, which people tend to discard after getting the toy.

You're comparing the United packaging to products Takara doesn't even own.

That's a...stupid comment.

Oh yeah, well I think your comment is stupid so there. :P

But some of us do collect carded figures, unique packaging displays better. Not to mention more eye catching packaging stands a better chance of standing out on the shelves.

The packaging caught your attention enough to comment on it. I'd say it's already done it's job.

And they're going to be mainly sold in Japan. To my understanding Transformers are seen over there as a more collector-oriented line, so the people buying them already know what they're looking for, and what they're getting.
