New Looks at PCC Dinobots Out of the Package!

Recommended Posts

When I had the guy at walmart open the box when I bought Bombshock early. It was 3 Bombshocks and 3 Skybursts. Chances are it will be the same with Grimstone and Steamhammer

It surprises me that hasbro has a case of any transformers that don't have 2-3 bumblebees from 7 months ago in them. I understand keeping out the popular characters, and repaints are another thing, but they seriously need to cut down on re-releasing old toys.

well telling me Bombshock stays together well is good news. Problem was mine did too, then i put his 'drones' on Smolder, and THEN the jeep leg wouldnt stay on. So i returned him (which at the time was for 22.99) NOW that hes $15 i may buy him up, since there is only like 2 left (big difference then what i said/saw the other day eh?) hmmmm I'd RATHER see some wave 2, 2 packs though, like Sledge, & Icepick. And whoever else is cool that i probably wont see.

Im SOOOOOOOO mad, Walmart has like 7 Drifts, 1 Thrust, 5 Optimus', 8 Bee's, and they have the nerve to get ANOTHER 3 cases of ..... WAVE ONE Generations. We have NOT SEEN wave 2 Generations in my area. :grr

I really don't think that the PCC series will last all that long. The numerous repaints seem to be an indication. For such an already limited line, you can only repaint a character so many times with the exception of the seekers and leader variations. While I have been collecting these, I bought my son the Aerialbots and while he loves the idea, he can't really DO much with them. The drones are just too awkward to apply to the unsturdy scout. He also has Huffer. While the tri-mode mini-cons are a neat concept, they are really poorly designed. He had to keep his instructions just to toggle between the three modes as the end-mode isn't exactly intuitive. What I mean to say is that the armor modes don't ever look like armor and the weapon modes only occasionally pull off a decent gun.

This series as a whole could've been done much better. The commanders should have at least been deluxe-sized if not voyager-sized. The drones seem to be an even weaker extension of the activators lines, which are terrible!!! You would do better to have a helicopter that transforms into an arm with solid joints than a spring-loaded, non-articulated, claw. And the Multi-Mode Mini-cons would be fine as abstracts if they only fit into their respective commander in a unique way, instead of the simple tab. The real problem here comes from what they were trying to do, which is to create limitless combinations for each character. The problem with that is: When are you going to want to hook Huffer's Minicon up to any other character? Seriously? What I don't get is that they could've made these simple improvements and more likely would've saved TONs of money in production!! It's cheaper to make a hinged joint than it is to make a spring-loaded, folding design. The real irony here is that these toys were made to appeal more to kids than collectors, where most collectors' gripes are about the features meant to simplify the product for the kids, but the poor design leaves the kids not wanting the toys and the collector buying to fill a collection, LOL. Gotta love it.

I think we're seeing something of a work in progress with PCC. Obviously the lines going to be limited with the movie 3 line right around the corner. However, the line is all toy, and I'm expecting Hasbro to make adjustments to the concept and wouldn't be surprised if more PCC stuff finds its way into the core lines with improvements.

I kinda am hopefull the line takes off in Japan and we get crazy Drone booster sets.

The only way I really see that happening is by making some of the improvements mentioned earlier. They've got to drop the spring-loaded-activators-gimmick. They are just too cheap and disfunctional. They would be better served to just make a set of drones that transform into an arm or let (IE Energon Super Optimus Prime drones). And it would be even better if the drones were sold in sets of five with each drone having three modes: arm, leg, or weapon/armor. They must also abandon the concept of 'limitless combinations' to a degree. It is neat to be able to move the drones to another character but the mini-cons should be unique to that commander, and made to function that way as well. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have deluxe or voyager sized commanders. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of what they are trying to do, I just don't like the way they are going about it.

Oh yeah, I'd like to see them drop the automorph transformation myself. I was thinking drones coming with Mini-Cons could be a good thing.

If they did a deluxe-sized commander with a 5 piece drone set where each is able to change into an arm, leg, and weapon/armor. When all are combined you have some type of weapon/armor out. One could be a sword, another a shield, another a gun, another a shoulder cannon, another a wing/jetpack, etc... That still gives you at least 5 different combinations in combined mode (excluding the placement of arms and legs, of course, which would be 120x2 possilbe combinations if you include the mini-con). And you could still include the Mini-con as a chest plate OR the head of the combiner. ========WIN :tfpwn

Oh yeah dude, there is a ton of room for improvement. Which I wouldn't be too surprised to see.

Even though they are suppose to be interchangeable it seems they really are not, as this is a complaint about them

I have all 4 5packs that are currently out and all the 6 2pack that are currently out in my area and i have only had 3 problems with them one being one of mudslingers leg drone not wanting to connect fully with the other commander figures, the other 2 are with sky burst his plane arm is hard to get off huffer, and skyburst's back panel does not like to stay close when in his combined form. are these flaws annoying yes, are they annoying enough to return the toys, to me no.

I also have to note that the pcc seem to be disappearing from shelves quite quikly in my area, i just wish the 3rd waves would show up.
