Better Bio for Animated Black Rodimus

Recommended Posts

I found the bio takara gave us for black rodimus to be a bit... corny and full of plot holes. So I came up with version that makes a bit more sense :D

The original:

"Hoping to create a new powerful warrior, Megatron utilized a shard of the Allspark and Starscream's cloning techniques. The result of that, Black Rodimus is given the assignment of assassinating Rodimus Prime. Believing himself to be deserving of Decepticon leadership, Black Rodimus seeks kill the real Rodimus and take control of his team as the first step."

Fan Version:

"On the attack on the Autobot Spacebridge Oilslick decided it was time to give his special batch of Cosmic Rust a field test. This batch of cosmic rust had the unique property of slowly and painfully devouring its host and replacing it with a dark blood thirsty Decepticon clone. However the Decepticons had to retreat and Rodimus was saved from a rust induced death by autobot scientists.

However, thanks to the Autobots poor guidelines for hazardous material disposal, the rust was just simply thrown in the trash. Here the rust had the opportunity to grow, to plot, and to become the monstrous being that is known only as "Black Rodimus". Black Rodimus's only goal in life is to complete his primary function of ripping apart and eatting Rodimus Prime...bit by bit...cell by cell...until Black Rodimus is the one and only true Rodimus in the universe. Black Rodimus shall then wear the spark container of Rodimus Prime around his neck as a symbol of his accomplishment."

Just a suggestion to tie it into the original bio, instead of leaving his creation up to festering. :lol

At the time when Rodimus was Cosmic Rust'd, Longarm/Shockwave was still undercover in the Autobots, and placed in charge of the C.R. disposal. Instead of disposing of the material, he returned it to Oilslick. (by way of Flipsides, maybe?)

Oilslick used this for his research, and gave Megatron some of the material, who then used an allspark shard, and Starscream's cloning technique to create Black Rodimus. As the Cosmic Rust, he had started to destroy Rodimus, and as his clone, he intends to finish the job. :con

Hmmmm i guess im actually in favor of the original. It just makes more sense to me and is intrieuging *sp?*. Still, nice work on the creativity. ;)

How would rust congeal into something? Not being picky but rust erodes metal, how could anything construct itself like that? Im confuffled...

unless it wasnt actually rust, but nanobots that broke down the victims body, then reassembled them into a desired (or in this case, a copy of the original) but with Decepticon programing. It would be better used as an infiltration tool. Spies could use it in small doses to change their outer appearance (painfully breaking down their armor and reassembling it). Body snatchers!

OR

It could be way simplified by just saying:

Rodimus Minor's little brother was always trapped in his shadow. It was always "Rodimus is so fast, so strong, so smart and so brave". But not anymore. Driven by jealously and unchecked rage, the fledgling brother has every intention of not just showing up his older sibling but wiping him from the face of existence! Using stolen Decepticon technology to boost his abilities, he plans to take over as the dominant brother. Soon all will praise the name NEMESIS RODIMUS! Will he triumph over his brother with his evil upgrades, or will they triumph over him.

Yeah, I gotta say I'm favor of the original. It makes sense in the context of the show and what shards could do, and it sounds like something Megatron would try to do, if Rodimus had become a more major character. Given Rodimus's original bio, he was meant to be an up and comer, someone who might have gotten deep into Optimus's group, and who would have been perfect to replace with a clone.

Animated never had cosmic rust in the show, so no one who has just watched Animated would know what it is. So, in that respect, your new bio has more plot holes than the original does.

I guess I'm just kind of confused on where you were going with this and why you thought it was necessary. Were you trying to tie it into G1 or something? Because Animated is a whole new universe, it's not meant to be the original. That's like saying Ultimate Spider-Man doesn't make any sense because Electro's costume isn't weird enough, or Peter is too young, or Aunt May is a hippie.

Actually, Animated DID have Cosmic Rust in the show. It was a weapon developed, and used, by Oilslick in the 3rd season premiere, to incapacitate Rodimus. http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Cosmic_Rust

Basically, as far as Takara's bio for Black Rodimus, it's just a weak bio. Megatron created him, and he just wants to kill Rodimus. The end. This topic's point was to expand on the bio, make it into something more interesting, and tie it better into Animated, using elements outside of "Allspark shard" and "Starscream clone".

I disagree with the idea of accomplishing that by using a little known and fairly weak plot device such as "cosmic rust". I always thought it was stupid, even when they used it as an excuse to tie Alternators in to the g1 continuity. If you want to tie Black Rodimus into the Animated universe better, then why not use the idea of an evil Decepticon clone scanning the alt mode of an autobot, like Nemesis Prime in RiD, or infecting an Autobot with Decepticon programming like Inferno in Energon? You can argue about how effectively each plot was executed in each show, but you can't deny how interesting the places you could go with that are. Someone with Rodimus's supposed skill using them for evil against his ever weakening will, depending on the writer, could really be exciting.

Also, the clone technology and the allspark shards bringing bots to life is much better established in Animated than Cosmic Rust was. I guess my biggest problem is with the orgasm some TFans seem to get from "cosmic rust".

Fine fine, you don't like it, but given Cosmic Rust WAS in the show, and had DIRECT CONTACT with Rodimus, you can't deny it'd make sense to include it into the clone equation along with Starscream's Cloing technology, and a allspark shard.

This is why Takara's original bio is so weak. It gives very little history behind the character's creation, and a weak motivation in wanting to kill Rodimus.

Actually... that's exactly what I was going for XD. When I wrote my story the "special batch" of cosmic rust was actually Scraplets, which were a parasitic nanobot from the g1 marvel comics, they could even combine together and form a large robot.

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Scraplet

Although in g1 the scraplets didnt form into anything terribly complex, let alone a transformer...but that's what made the "special batch" so special ;)

I don't know about the others, but I hardly consider a transformer with a skin rash a fetish.

I just wanted to help make takara's bio make more sense, and the only way to do this is to use a modified scraplet. Plus it would totally make sense for Oil Slick to name them after something else he made so that there is no confusion as to who made them.
