Why doesn't Hasbro have dircet to DVD TF movies?

Why doesn't Hasbro have direct to DVD TF movies?

they have a product with lots of history and characters. a history that has been thrashed and really could use a reboot. why wait for a movie 10 to 20 years from now?

this has worked for dc and marvel. the dvd's they have released have been very good. while they market the evil bay movies and the show for kids prime, why not make a direct to dvd movie and or series that can appeal to the older/mature market of transformers. and depending on the popularty of the dvd release toys.

just an idea.

Because the "older/mature market" doesn't bring in enough money for Hasbro to invest in such a venture.

Friggin awesome idea Destronger!! I love it@ Maybe its time for a shit load of us fans to start sending email after email about it, and phone calls too if you can. Any takers? (also how would we go about doing this?)

Bullshit! We make up like 25-30% of the demograph. Which is actually quite a LOT of the fans it has. Also, toys and movies like "Transformers" & "ROTF" were mostly adult fans from what i understand. And im absolutely SURE that is not why they dont have direct to dvd movies. Im betting they havent got around to it .... yet.

do you think the direct to dvd batman animated movies are advertised to kids?

I think the way the Shout! Factory G1 series was sold can give you the answer. When ROTF came out, the Season 1 DVD set of the cartoon was advertised and on sale at all of the major retailers. Season 2, volume 1 also got good support from stores. When general public interest in ROTF died down, so did retailer support for the G1 series on DVD. Season 2, volume 2 barely got noticed and the Season 3 & 4 set was almost non-existent. Sure, stores like Best Buy and Walmart stocked it, but they would never advertise it like they did with Season 1. The same thing happened with the G.I. Joe DVD sets.

I'd rather have the Japanese series brought over and remastered.

It works for 3 simple reasons

1) They are already made

2) only a few of the American characters are in them, so voice overs wouldn't get in the way.

3) It would be a lot cheaper then making a completely new video

We make up 30 percent? Gosh, that means children still make up the other 70 percent.

Also, of this 30 percent demographic...how many would actually pay money to buy Transformers media (movies, comics, etc), rather than just getting them off the Interwebs? The fandom condemns any Transformer franchise as garbage because they don't find the aesthetics appealing. If Hasbro does put out some direct to video, mature cartoon, but uses some art style which gets a huge negative reaction from the adult fans, then what?

Hasbro may one day put out some sort OVA for the adult fans, but for all we know it could be an update to Kiss Players.

Batman and the Transformers are two veeeeeery different properties.

Hasbro has always maintained that Transformers is mainly for children, because the bulk of the brand's profits come from toy sales. Compare that with how many sources of revenue DC Comics have cultivated for Batman.

Batman's been around for 70 years. That means it has a very established adult fanbase, with parents sharing their love of Batman with their children and grandchildren - long before Transformers ever came to be. DC Comics don't pretend that Batman is only for kids, not with the adult following it has.

Transformers became a generational franchise probably only in the last few years, particularly when the movies showed - especially to Hasbro - that it's big enough to be considered mainstream. So maybe one day they will try to cater more to the adult segment, but I wouldn't lose sleep worrying about it.

non collectors may make up 70% but they rotate thru and don't always stick with it

Ender had this same idea.

I think the biggest reason against it is that it would be too difficult to engineer and produce toys to go with a animated movie for anyone to care. Unless it was mixed in with Generations. Or a series of Animated movies being in it's own continuity.

Come to think of it, get on in Hasbro!

30% is actually quite a bit, and as Hasbro knows now, NOT to be taken lightly.

I would, im sure alot of fans here would. I bet you wouldnt be able to GET it online (yanked off youtube yada yada) if it was out @ retail. JUST cuz we were lucky enough to get all the eps of Animated online doesnt mean most shows get as lucky. Venture Bros, Clone Wars, alot of other properties were taken off youtube for infringement. I have a feeling the hubs shows will be the same.

Most likley if they were appealing to adults, they know what "Aesthetic" we would enjoy on average. ;)
