Soul of Chogokin

Ok, so I've been a TF fan for a long, LONG time, and have come across some weird Transforming robots, but this series from Bandai continues to escape me.

I have the little KO of the "Irongear" robot space ship, which transforms in a similar fashion to the Great Robot base and have admired the newer, dare I say Masterpiece Irongear toy for about $150. But I have not found decent copies of the series on DVD (or other).

What seems to be the big deal with this series? Or is it one of those which wasn't released since it's airing?

If you have no idea what I am talking about, do a search on Irongear and see for your self. Massive star ship that converts into a super robot.

Do you mean this?

Soul of Chogokin isn't a tv series. It's a "masterpiece" line of toys from all sorts of super robot shows from the last 30 some years.

According to hobby link japan:

The mighty Irongear has arrived! The titanic landship of 1982 anime classic "Xabungle," capable of transforming into an unstoppable whopper of a 'bot in times of most desperate need, is now a Soul of Chogokin die-cast masterpiece![/quote

hopefully this helps point you in the right direction

That is exactly what I was talking about.

sign... I can only dream of a MP Diaclone GRB similar to this. Thanks SGC

I love the Soul of Chogokin stuff, but it's so expensive, I've been drooling over the Big O for months. But the big draw for this series of toys is that the figures are super detailed and articulated and the majority of the figure is made out of die cast.

np backfire.

The SoC line is quite incredible and I too have been eying the Big O. I managed to get EVA 0-4 for about $30 off amazon a few weeks ago and that thing is just amazing. Having a toy so highly detailed and articulated made almost completely out of metal is quite a beautiful thing.

Find a character you like and spend the money, its so worth it.

I have nothing but love for Soul of Chogokin!! Sadly, I only have Combattler V (black) and Mineva X. They can be soo pricey but I would have loved to collect the whole bunch! As a Shogun Warrior fan, and I think this was the first series that got me into ginat robots, I really appreciate them so much. I had a Gaiking and Godzilla Shogun Warrior toys and only wish that I could have Gaiking in his Soul of Chogokin incarnation along with Raideen and Mazinker. (Was kinda like the throo any collector should get as a kid collecting Shogun.)

LOVE! I only would be too happy to see Bandai bring them into the American market but I'm not too sure if it would be too much of a gamble for Bandai America.

I have a few from SOC including Tetsujin, Dancougar, Tobikaje, Big O, the Macross Frontier version of the SDF-1 and one of the fighters.

I didnt really get into the line until they released the Big O figure and the level of detail just amazed me.

the stupid thing about the Big O SoC is most of the essential acessories (chains, variant hands, Rogers car, blast effect parts, extra head, stuff that would usually be included)are in a set you buy seperately. not a big deal usually, but in this case a Bandai Tamashii Web exclusive, essentially making it unobtainable to anyone outside Japan

Yeah I was a little miffed about that and the fact that there were a limited number available. Then there is the mark up for ebay.

I am content with the version I have though the arm transformation was what I wanted the most.
