Soundwave's always been one of my favorite G1 characters. To do him right, I started with an oversized G1 Soundwave (courtesy of kotoys.com)Here is the list of modifications made to Soundwave:

- Plastic's been completely filled with epoxy to give him extra stability and weight.- The articulated hands (all fingers move independently) are courtesy of Zildjian.- The head was custom built using a variety of parts. (cast & available on ebay soon)- The visor is clear red plastic and the head contains a red LED light, which runs to it's power supply and on/off switch in Soundwave's back.- Soundwave's chest was also completely rebuilt and re-invented.- Although "oversized" the chest was reconstructed to hold "regular" sized G1 cassettes.- All details/mods were done w/ styrene.- His waist also extends (telescope style) giving him another inch of height.- His knees now bend back.- His feet pivot to lay flat- Decals were custom built and applied, most graphics are hand painted- Embossed Decepticon symbol on chest is hand cut from styrene

I used to think just like that! My oversize Soundwave custom was the first major project I took on, and not only did I enjoy the process a lot more than I expected, I now have a 'Masterpiece' Soundwave of my own on the shelf! :yay

Seriously though folks, even if you just repaint the thing and cut away the backs of his knees to give that extra articulation, it makes a massive difference.

As good as FR's Soundwave is, I like yours better. I think it's mainly because I like the translucent chest :)

Of course, F_R does awesome work and turns it out at a rate I could never dream of, whereas mine was a long learning curve done in fits and starts. Without folks like F_R showing what can be done I never would have tried my hand at all.

 

...But I prefer a transparent chest too! ;)

I mean, I don't have the time money or resources to make one. I have made some kind of a custom with Cybertron leader Optimus Prime, to where I took his head, legs, (with weapons)gun and arms and swiched them with my Galaxy Force Optimus Prime's because the original Prime was getting week at the waist.

This is an awesome piece of work. I like how this one differs from Optimus Timeoverlord's. I like the transformation sequence with the 3 size figures. Very cool. I think I prefer the translucent chest because he has the cards you can see through it and you can see the Cassette housed in the chest as well.

 

Does this hold more than one cassette?
