TFU.info survey

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Since adding the new update and creating the the new Toy Tables for the site, I've been mulling over various ideas on how to improve TFU.info. So I figured the best way to find out would be to pose the question to the people who use it most. With that in mind, I've concocted the following survey; big thanks in advance to everyone taking the time to answer these questions and provide feedback.

1) What additional information do you feel would best compliment the site entries at TFU.info?

2) What improvements to the navigation would you like to see on the site?

3) Would you like to see more information regarding appearances of each toy/character in various forms of fiction? If yes, howso? And if yes, howso in a way not already covered by TF Wiki, TFW and other sites? (My goal is to compliment what information is already out there, not to replace or duplicate information better served by other sites.)

4) How do you feel about individual page boosters/sponsorships? (Similar to what Sports Reference's pages do.) Would you be willing to pay a small ($1-$25) yearly fee to sponsor and/or link your site from or leave a message on your favorite character's page to help support this resource?

5) Would you like to see figure reviews accompanying the entries? If so, would only one suffice or would you prefer differing opinions?

6) Are you more willing to submit photos for archive entries if there were continual threads on forums like this one? (Where, instead of email, you could just post your images to the thread?)

7) Would you be interested in reading a daily blog/RSS entry on the site? If so, what topics would you like to see covered?

8) Do you like the site design graphically? Do you feel it needs a new logo or color scheme?

9) Do you know there are boxed and/or carded images for many of the entries on the site?

Of course, if you have any other ideas or suggestions as far as the site's content goes, please feel free to add them into this thread, but please try and focus on the questions above first. Thanks!

4 sounds like a good idea.

5 sounds like a good idea, too. Perhaps instead of having reviews on the site, folks can self-host reviews, then submit them to TFU.info for the character, kind of like a review agitator(think that's the word I'm looking for :tflaugh )?

extra: I think someone mentioned this on a forum elsewhere, but to be able to search by alternate mode would be great. I've always been curious to see which might be one of the most commonly used alternate modes.

I use TFU ALOT!!!

some changes I would make would be add links on character pages to sites like TFWiki or where evre.

Another I'd like to see is a subclass link on the character pages. ie if a character is a minibot, where that class is listed make that a quick link to the list of other minibots.

I really don't know what else to say, I love TFU it's a quick, easy right to the point valuable resource for me as a collector and untill this topic, I couldn't think of anything to change.

The only other thing I'd like to see in the pics is a back shot of the figures just to help in part placement and identification purposes.

:agree

Ant, TFU.info needs more me.

Hey, Tonyfitz. I've been registered here forever, but I want to use my first post to tell you how much I appreciate TFU.info. There have been a couple times when I worried you guys were down for the count, but you always come through with updates eventually. That's all I can ask for. To give you a little bit of feedback on your questions:

1) More photos would be nice. Different angles, pointing out any peculiarities that a figure might have, etc. Full galleries would be great really.

2) My biggest request to improve navigation would be the addition of thumbnails to the various index pages. Many times I'm trying to find info on a Transformer (or GoBot) whose name I just don't know. Thumbnails would go a long way towards simplifying those inevitable searches for mystery TFs. This would actually be my #1 request for TFU.

3) Can't hurt. But like you say, alot of that info is out there and accessible. So I'm not really sure what the best way to enhance that info would be...

4) It might be a nice way to support the site.

5) I like Taaron's idea about self-hosted reviews being linked from TFU pages. I think your site works well and is most unique as a comprehensive reference site. As is, it has a "professional" and classy feel to it. Subjective commentary on the reference pages themselves might change the tone a bit? I'm not sure. But linking to off-site reviews might be the best of both worlds. Users could submit links to their own reviews, or links to reviews they come across while browsing. Come to think of it, TFU could really be enhanced by compiling a list of reviews from across the WWW. A review database of sorts.

6) More willing? No, but not less willing either. Either way is fine with me.

7) I would be interested. This would probably be a good place for your own thoughts on new releases and announcements, your own recent acquisitions. Your own reviews even. Stuff like that.

8) I like the current layout. It's not bloated, it loads quickly and it doesn't lag.

9) Yes, I do. I often click the link to check out the boxed/carded pic.

With all that said, I'd be content if TFU.info simply continued along as it is. Thanks for putting the effort in. It doesn't go unnoticed.

An easier way to search, I dont know how many times Ive had to wade through muck when I search something like Jazz, lol.
