Looks good! Awesome imo. I like the mix of Animated and movie, outstanding!

No, you remembered correctly from Aaron's official statement at BotCon. But I mean, seriously, what's the point of doing a show based on a toyline without a toyline?

I have a feeling TF: Prime toys will be revealed at SDCC.

It's like a reverse of doing a toyline without a TV show to support it, see Classics/Universe.

Well to be fair, the Classics Generations toys envoke the original show, or the IDW comics. So they are based off something.

Im guessing we will end up getting the toys AFTER the show starts. Which, imo, is lame and will hurt show ratings and toy saled. :roll

Well, my main point is that Transformers was always a toyline first and a show to promote that toyline. It's okay when toys come out without a show, but the other way around is just odd...

Well, lets look at this from an outside perspective. The styling is similar enough to the movie toys. There is another movie line on the horizon and the yellow box movie toys are largely not movie characters currently. Kid watches his TF movies on dvd, watches show on tv, see's similar toys on shelves. It just makes sense. If there is to be Prime figures, wouldn't they just be inserted in the mainline or Generations at this point. Look at ROTF Bludgeon, he should have been released in Universe, but was stuck in the movie line. Would that stop him from being used in a similar visual profile in Prime or the comics? Or say Demolisher and Slipstream in WFC, sure no toys, but they're not G1, but they fit right on in.

If you want a better example (or the best I can muster right now), check out that cover of Drift that's floating around. Without spoiling or using a spoiler tag, that popular bounty hunter seems based on a recent toy.

The point I'm trying to make is, I seriously doubt mainstream consumers are going to make too much of a distinction on exactly what sub title is on the toy box. "Hey my kid wants an Optimus, that looks like him"

Oh, I absolutely agree. But Aaron's statement pretty much said that they weren't planning on making toys for the show as of yet. You are correct, though. They may not say, "Transformers: Prime" line! But maybe they'll just start slotting the figures within the mainstream "Transformers" yellow box line.

God he looks EVIL..

Yep, all set for the inevitable black repaint.

Yeah, I wouldn't be to surprised to see the new Voyager Prime toy released again in red and blue. Or hey, what if some of those non movie characters find their way onto the show? I believe that's the point of returning the mainline back to just Transformers in name. With that, it can encompass a larger spectrum. At most, maybe pull a G.I.JOE 'As seen in' blurb on the packaging.

As I remember, they said no to a TFP full line but did hint that we may see figures of some characters, (espcially optimus) at some point, maybe akin to the WFC "line" (a subline of a subline.)

If they don't do a Transformers Prime line, but make a few characters. I'm also betting on them being tossed into the Transformers 2010 line (yellow box) Or if they go deluxe. They will be tossed into the Generations line just like WFC was.

It would be cheaper that way instead of making different packaging for the different lines

Generations is perfect for Transformers that have to take a back seat to movie toys. Hasbro can't ignore Transformers: Prime when it comes to toys. It's their new Transformers cartoon on their brand new TV network.
