Armada resuscitated my interest in tfs. Clearly not the best molds, but QC was hardly a problem plus I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to my favorite toy brand. RiD, totally different animal. A bit too complex to enjoy Plus there is a reason I started collecting again with Armada, RiD had all that BW/BM rehash and I hate BW/BM which killed my interest in the brand in the first place.G1 reissue OP Was for sale and I got basebot Prime instead. I lived through G1 and Armada prime is bigger better, cooler,a touch more poseable but G1 is just nostalgia . RiD Prime was cool, technically a superior mold to the Armada but complexity bred boredom. Armada flaws and all does not approach the level of disappointment reached through owning PCC's .No forgiveness here.

I think that hasbro was just generally focused on action features at the time. at the same time as armada, they were releasing the star wars episode 2 figures, which had action features that compromised the appearance and articulation of the figures, much like the armada figures.

Could someone please explain to me who "Bendy Prime" and "Magma Prime" are? I've heard these names a few times, and have no clue!

 

Armada was a mixed bag for me. I really didn't like many of the toys, and the cartoon series was even worse! I haven't even tried watching Energon or Cyberton because of the scars Armada left. BUT, I am a big fan of Armada Optimus Prime and Megatron! Both are pretty awesome figures...and the auto Transforming gimmick for Prime is a damn cool idea. The mini-cons weren't my thing either...but I thought they were a brilliant idea/plot device. Remember, Armada was riding on the success wave of the Pokemon boom, so it was just a good business idea.

 

But the one thing I will always love Armada for? UNICRON! Sure he may not be perfect, but I've wanted a nice Unicron figure since seeing Transformers The Movie in theaters...and the Armada release fills in nicely. For that, Armada trumps R.I.D., but ONLY because of that!
