MP-03c Clear Star scream

Recommended Posts

I noticed on the TFSource site.. they seem to be implying (unless it's bad verbage) that there are 2 versions of this being released... a normal one (which i'm assuming is by Takara) and then 2 weeks later another one that is being released by Ehobby. It comes with a comic and is about $10 more, and I presume will be limited in quantity as well.

Can someone tell me if this is indeed true or is it the same one and one simply has a comic with it?? If so, why the 2 weeks delay then?

I assume that takara has sold a certain quantity of these to ehobby - or is ehobby a division of takara?

This drives 'completist' crazy - and is about to cure me of being a completist - one of the last in a series i was still a completist in.

If it is indeed the SAME product, but is actually being released as a takara AND ehobby as a difference - I'm curious which one most MP collectors will be getting? I'll be damn if i'm buying both - and i'm about fed up with the repaints as it is. Which one is likely to be more valueable in the future? I don't buy for investments, so please no rabbit traile lessons there - but I do enjoy knowing the value of a piece in the collection might have actually gone up.

I'd appreciate getting some clarification on this piece.

UPDATE... for those that care about this piece....

It seems there ARE going to be 2 versions of this piece released..

Takara/Tomy is releasing one that will be a limited edition (2010 pieces) that you see on preorders for about $124.

Ehobby will be releasing the same one (not sure what, if any, differences) - but was having trouble selling them individually.... so they finally decided to sell them in bulk to resellers in order to get rid of stock... and so it can be purchase for $10 more at $134, along with the comic.

On another note - it seems that they might be doing this exact same thing with the new MP-04s sleeping prime.

Takara/Tomy is releasing this repaint (grr) for the $250 or so that it is...

AND

Ehobby will be releasing it as well... and is trying to limit it to 1 per person.. no bulk sales to resellers.. and the price point is expected to be about $400.

So much for being a completist in the MP line any longer.... as they are releasing not ONLY a bunch of repaints.. but allowing ehobby to buy bulk, then mark em up and sell em off as another version.

Hopefully, no one buys them either.. and ehobby will be forced to dump them as well.

Gotta say.. this is a chitty chitty business decision and along with the massive amounts of repaints... is starting to kill my love of the MP line altogether.

But the black Prime released by Takara themselves is a black version of the MP 4 version (with trailer), while the e-hobby version is MP-1.

What's the difference with MP Starscream?

But I'm not surprised e-hobby can't get rid of their stock. It used to be possible to order from them directly, but nowadays you have to live in Japan or at the very least order in Japanese.

From what i understand now... you have the ehobby MP-01b (Black Prime with no trailer). That was released as an ehobby exclusive - Takara did not release one.

That is completely seperate from the MP-04s (sleeping prime) that is now coming out. And it is THIS ONE that is going to be released in 2 versions as well - BOTH WITH TRAILER. The Takara/Tomy version ($250 price point), and an Ehobby one that will be sold only thru them - not thru resellers ($400 price point).

It seems ehobby tried to do the exact same thing with the MP-03c (clear starscream) - but it didn't sell. So now they are opening it up for bulk purchases and resellers. But this one comes out as 2 different versions as well - Takara/Tomy and Ehobby. I have absolutely NO IDEA if/what there are any actual differences whatsoever. Altho the ehobby one is suppose to have a comic with it. (big whoop).

Even if there are not differences at all - the simple fact one is ehobby, makes it a different version.

There's usually a Hong Kong Version and the ehobby version...which is what I assume they are talking about. For MP-01b there was the ehobby version that had the comic and then a generic HK version that came with the little metal plaque. I assume that the other exclusive items will have two versions as well.

I didn't realize there were 2 versions of the MP-01b. When you say generic Honk Kong version - i assume you mean the takara/tomy version???

According to TFSource's site - the MP-01b was a "limited edition ehobby exclusive" that came with a metal nameplate. This would suggest there was only "ONE" version of this piece.

Regardless - it is clear the MP-03c and likely the MP-04s ARE coming out in 2 versions tho. So, i'm curious to find out what most MP collectors... especially completists of the MP collectors... are thinking about these multiple versions... are most staying with the mainline takara/tomy -- or is there a sense that the ehobby will be more valuable down the line??? Is there any real pro/con one way or another - or are some actually going for both???

What are ppls' thoughts on takara/tomy vs ehobby when both are released like this???

It seems you are correct, and the TFSource had an error on their website that they have corrected now.

The MP-01b DID come in 2 versions as well. TFSource was going to originally carry the ehobby version, but they went up $40 on the price, and they already had preorders in - so they decided to change it to the Takara one and didn't really let people know.

So for confirmation.. MP-01b DID come in 2 versions...

TAkara/Tomy - had the metal plate

Ehobby - has the comic

I am still waiting to hear from other MP collectors.. which they think will actually hold better value moving forward into the future - takara vs ehobby? In fact, maybe I should make that a completely different thread/subject - or even poll.
