Is the Supreme Class Devastator worth it

Recommended Posts

ok i really want to get a devastator because i collect ROTF only. (because its the easiest to get) I really do want to get the supreme one but it's too much and I'm not sure if it's worth it. Should I get the legends one, it seems really good but my 2 main issue is that he's too hunches and you WAY out of scale. Every decepticon i have to all out of scale so if i get legends devastator, it just adds to the off scaliness. So what should i get, Supreme or legends, is supreme worth it, does being out of scale worth it for a legends figure, IDK help me out.

I found Supreme Dev on sale for $64, and bought him. I love him, I think he's very good- not great, but very good.

Highs-

-sounds and lights

-opening mouth eats Legends figures

-huge, decent scale for Legends figs

-solid

Lows-

-needs more painted details

-not a lot of useful articulation

-price

-separate vehicle modes are not consistently scaled to one another

I'm failry good at modding TFs for improved articulation and such, so now my Sup Dev can hold some decent poses on all fours like in the movie. Out of the box, tho, he really only stands there, but he looks pretty cool doing it. Id go for the Supreme if you can afford it. Surround him with Legends figs and never take him apart, you'll get your money's worth. HTH.

I would go legends because there's quite a bit of joy in those tiny little things. They have the charm of older G1 toys, where the robots have simple transformations and limited articulation, but they're better toys for that.

I also say legends because supreme devastator will never be cool enough to justify all the shelf space he would use. I have a relatively small collection of under 200 figures, and my biggest hurdle for buying something new is where to put it. And, I also have a thing for undersized transformers it seems

I have both, I bought both with the intention of first having the supreme Devy and then the small one to have for just bragging rights, I repainted both of them w/reprolabels and spent a good amount of time with the big guy and fully repainted his face, take a look in collectors corner and you will see that even the novice can make this bot the best out of the line, and I can make mine walk on "all fours" unlike most people say that he can not....

I say pick the bigger guy because the legends is really lacking in the articulation department and the size will make you mad, even if all 7 transform to robot to vehicle and is a combiner as well, and his visage is fucking horrid!

I guess it all depends on your space too. I mean I have neither of them, but giving my small space, I'd get the Legends, Supreme is too big for my available space, if any...

Only way I can even think Supreme Dev is if he had the alternate transformations for the seperate construction vehicles. Otherwise, and only to keep everything in scale, look for a sale.

personally, I would go for the legends. I bought supreme devastator for $70 off of ebay and am highly disappointed. The robot mode is a cool, with exception to the arms. But for such an exprensive piece, I expect a better paint job and more detail to the vechile modes.

Better advice = dont get either.

You know that with all that work they put into Devs in ROTF and the fact that there were a ton of identical Constructicons running around, that hes gonna make another appearance in TF3. If ROTF proved anything its that Bay doesnt seem to mind re-using the same character models over and over again.

And for that matter, that means that Hasbro will once again put out at least the Supreme version again (they have the mold, theyd be crazy from a business standpoint not to make him again). And to entice you to purchase the same massive figure again, they'll probably add on more paint apps or even remold some of the horrible out of it thus making the second release better, if only slightly.

Just ask all the people that bought Takara MP Grimlock and Takara Legends Devastator. They wish they wouldve had future sight to know those figures would come out stateside and save a bunch of money. If you go out and buy this crapton of a figure, you'll be kicking yourself when the newer slightly improved version comes out.

If it comes out.
