As a former Marvel comic geek and fan of the movies, I am worried about the future direction of Marvel. At the same time my friends band (Breaking Benjamin) is signed to Hollywood Records which is a division of Disney and they have explict content in every album and are multi platinum selling artists so maybe they won't completely fudge it up.....

Well this could be bad, luckily though a crack team of specialists have created a dramatization of two possible outcomes of this hideous Disn-val fusion.

Most likely outcome, given just HOW many things Diseny owns?

 

Disney buys Marvel. Marvel continues to carry on like it always has. Just now with free licence to do any Disney product.

 

From past experience with Disney purchases. They are above getting in and monkey'ing with something that's working. This deal is really just a profit plan. Marvel own's the hot hero properties. Now Diseny will own them, means Disney's assets are stronger.

 

The most change the readers should expect is to see Marvel come back with a more youth oriented line. Without detracting from it's current lineups.

 

Really, all this is, is Diseny buying another medium leader to gain a foot hold in that medium and profit from it.

Given that it's on Cartoon Network, I'm sure it was in the works BEFORE the Disney purchase.

To the people worried about this because of Disney's Hannah Montana bullshit:

 

1. That's for a specific audience. The most damage from that will be a passing reference in a Spider Man comic book.

 

2. Disney doesn't just do Hannah Montana.

 

Example: Pixar's films have consistently been top notch with very little negative influence from the Hannah Montana franchise. The worst I've seen is Miley being the voice of the girl in Bolt.

 

Example: Phineas and Ferb. It's a great show with clever writing and elegant animation. It's like an amalgamation of everything that made shows like Tom and Jerry great, but updated for new technology and pop culture references.

 

Example: Disney did the old show Tool Time.

 

3. You'll still have your transformers to play with if everything DOES go to hell.

I always wanted to see an animated X-men movie with them singing in it!!!!!....

 

Anyways, it can't be that bad.... I wouldn't mind seeing the X-Men in Kingdom Hearts 3....

I know at least one KH player locally who's hanging out for that very thing. It's almost a pity the current Marvel/Transformers and Disney/Transformers links are so weak - maybe we'd get a KH3 Gummi Ship travelling to Cybertron and the hero(es) being able to assume altmodes to race across the terrain.
