Why do some transformers have hair?

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't think so. Maybe just extra armor for his face, now, why the other TF don't have one: I guess it's just personal preference, like the decision to have a big rifle or just two pistols as their weapons, rocket launchers, etc.

Optimus Prime does have teeth.

In the comic that the swarm was involved, Jiaxus (sp?) smashed Optimus' faceplate, and in later scenes you could see his mouth and teeth.

I found a Site that has lots of pics of Primes real face!

Darn.... I was hoping he had a lot of eyeballs under that faceplate, like Cobra Commander had. Oh, well. :tflaugh

all i gotta say is remember G1 SKIDS MOTTO........."Deep down, we are more like than unlike humans." :ab

man I love this topic...

it seems that transformers are prone to like fu manchu's. see LM's example. Silverstreak is the only one I can rememver with just a goatee.

I mean these guys are in the military (sort of) but some of them have mustaches(no big) and beards (Bulkhead is another example). didnt they read the dresscode??? (but how did it grow and how would they shave it)

a good question is why some transformers dont even have faces (shockwave) and if prime really has a mouth behind that face plate.

Prime, in the G1 cartoon anyway, made me believe he does indeed have a mouth behind his mouthplate. The reason is that whenever he talked, the plate moved up and down, in accordance to the mouth moving to make the words. So if he said something that had the letter "o" in it, to extend his mouth, he would have to make it so that the mouth plate went down when he formed the "o" with his "lips".

Well since OP is orion pax, buffed up, the mouthpiece was added as a repair when he was made optimus. in the optronix continuity he did never had a MOUTH

I always thought it was an odd choice on the part of the animators to have Prime's jaw move, but not (for instance) Soundwave's. Even Wheeljack and Shockwave had those flashy light thingies to tell you when they were speaking.

you are the only one that felt that way, apparently. since anny prime as a switch to move the mouthpiece.

I cant see of any way he should be able to move it if it is covering his mouth,

maybe it is his bottom lip and it is REALLY large

20th Anniverary Prime is a commemorative figure based on the 'toon, so of course his mouth would move. That's not what I meant. I'm talking about inconsistency in animation. Prime's faceplate was decided to be "covering" something, but in the cases of Wheeljack, Soundwave, Bombshell, Grimlock, Powerglide, Hoist, Warpath, etc., it was decided that that's just the way their heads were shaped (i.e. no mouth hiding behind anything). I was wondering why that decision was made inconsistently, not questioning whether or not Prime's jaw should move when he speaks.
