My understanding of why stereotyping happens is because there is some truth behind one. I'm not advocating or condoning stereotyping in any degree, but think about it. I'm sure I offended some people on that one, sorry.

Also, like it or not, we all judge people based on their appearances that's just a human fact. It's what we choose to believe about what we are seeing is what makes the difference.

 

I don't think the Twins were ever meant to be a stereotype I think they were meant to be comic relief. I think some people go looking for something to be offended or "read into" something to find what they are looking for. Great Example of this is found in this little video Clip from

Maybe I'm way off base. I do agree they need to be sensitive to how they can be viewed especially given the audience that would be viewing it, but in the end it comes down to a small saying...

 

There will always be someone somewhere who will be offended by something. The only thing I would say was "offensive" was Devastators "wrecking balls". I was like..... :wtf

 

Here is my take on the Twins,

 

I think that they got all the screen time because they were concept cars backed by GM and it is what GM wanted and since at the time they had some money they got to call it. Also, the hidden agenda by any automotive company with product placement is to show which cars that are really wanting to push. Those cars are actually more realistic for people to buy in real life than the Camaro, Volt, or the Corvette. Which brings me to the point maybe it was Bays way of getting back at GM with both characters in a way saying "these cars are stupid, so let's make them as stupid looking as possible". :shrug. That's just another view on this whole thing that I don't think I have heard mentioned.

 

IMHO, I think they could have been left out and it would be great. They ARE the JARJAR BINKS of TF. It seems there childish behavior was all part of a "plot device", which I use loosely, so they could fight and break the wall in the tombs?

They should have made them background characters and gave screen time to characters I believe were way cooler and deserving or the time. Such as Jolt, He was a really cool looking character and has 15 seconds of screen time in the background where he's doing something with electrical bands or something. He looked to have some really cool "weapons" from what I could see in the background.

 

Sideswipe, even though he got screen time, which wasn't much, should have been another character that was a supporting character. He did have one of the coolest lines in the movie though.:tfgrin

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

IMO people get offended far too easily, It wasn't a case of Skids and Mudflap being these stereotypes it's just how they interpreted Earth culture, there are genuinely people who act and talk like that (stereotypes have to come from somewhere) and I think it's fair enough to say they are riggers (like wiggers but with robots)

 

People are making a far bigger deal of it than it actually is, people are dying every day due to people not showing them peace of mind or practising what they preach yet people still find time to complain about something they saw in the cinema because it plays on a stereotype that has absolutely nothing to do with them. Call me embittered but I'm just calling it how I see it.

 

Personally I liked Skids and Mudflap, they were no where near as bad as Jar Jar binks, at least Skids and Mudflap did something other than being annoying and they made me laugh a few times. Sideswipe and Jolt should have been the support characters but we got what we got unless anyone's got a time machine.

 

Rant over, I had more of a problem with the mother eating brownies and acting the way she did, weed doesn't do that, that was far more ridiculous than anything skids and Mudflap said or did if you ask me.

 

Think I might go to bed now, late night tiredness makes me cranky.

the twins were very very funny. i have yet to see where at any point in the movie there was any racism.

But there is a certain ethnic community (Not all of them but a Lot of them) which I won’t even name here that demands an apology for everything and anything all of the time 24 \ 7 and this needs to stop. The funny thing is you know exactly which race I’m talking about and you are very scared to admit this and you will rather attack me than admit I’m right.

 

I would be offended to be in this race and would always wonder when my group would just truly let us get past it and move on.

 

So I guess your against reparations huh? Well me too, why should I pay for something I didn't do, to someone who wasnt immediately effected? Ya know I saw in the news where there was a white family in Ohio who was beaten on July 4th weekend by a mob and one of the guy said it was because they were white, they had it coming. And ya know what, its not being considered a hate crime.

 

Regardless on what your view is, the matter of fact here is that this whole fukkin world is beyond fukked. There are so many people who think they "get it" but it doesnt matter, because people can never get their shit together to do anything right!

Ok, I guess I can understand that one!

First off yeah they were funny but really to have that sh@t in the movie? that was a little uncalled for. michael bay is a giant dusche!!!!

I hope someone who actually follows the comics or the g1 series gets involved to fix what he has screwed up!!!!

I am a transformers purist I'm not happy with A LOT of the character designs for the movie among other things.

Don't get me wrong the movies were entertaining and the story line has been good as well but i don't under stand why:

 

1. why soundwave sounded like doctor claw from inspector gadget when frank welker could have done the original g1 voice?

2. why every desepticon looks like some weird bug?

3. why desepicons from the first movie who died and didn't get reserected by the allspark were in the movie at the end

4. how were the guys who formed devistator fighting the autobots when devistator was destroying the pyramid?

5. why is ever transformer grey or black, if there weren't gonna stick with the G1 designs the could at least use the color schemes from the G1 characters for example "pimp my ride" optimus prime, iron hide should be red, i've never in my life seen a green ambulance before....WTF!!!

6. why did the twins faces look like gremlins

Wait what? I never even thought about that.... How was dev in two places at once..... was there more than one of him? I mean there were multiples of all the other cons.... and that didn't make sence.... so why should anything else in the movie.... There were so many bad parts that things just keep popping up or pooping out whichever....

I think that the original voice, just without the digital effects. Why they choose not to add them I don't know. maybe they thought people would not be able to make out what he was saying.
