Unfortunately, it is ignorant, offensive posts from people like yourself that merely proves those that are "offended" by the film's content are "right".

 

Had you bothered to give a constructive and rational post defending the film's merits, or debated the idea of censorship versus an increase in moral responsibility, then perhaps you could have added something to the debate.

 

Instead, you chose to use immature and childish language not too dissimilar from the Twin's own language.

 

All you did was give those against your point of view the chance to say

"See? This guy is as stupid, irrational and as juvenile and unable to express himself as all those other "poor, impressionable working-class youths out there today". Case in point!"

 

I'm looking forward to a more intelligent defense of the film's weak points by someone else. Anyone?

Honestly, while I didn't care for the Twins in the movie, I actually applaud the staff for deciding to put them in.

 

Why?

 

Well, think about it. Take a handful of people. No matter how carefully you pick them, they are not all going to be perfect, upstanding members of society. There are always going to be degenerates or underperformers, or just downright unpleasant people in that group; not to mention wildly differing personalities and religious beliefs. While it might not have been intentional on the TF2 Staff's part, I think it can be safe to say that a race of giant robots are the same way. They're not perfect killing machines. They have flaws, hopes, and personalities. Besides, despite their borderline "Wannabe Thug" personalities, the Twins are still effective combatants, evidenced by their almost solo fight against Devastator.

I agree Primal, someone who states "they don't care" and "grow up" as an argument against possible racist remarks or imagery in the media is themselves being quite immature as it's something that genuinely matters in this day & age. Such sloppy stereotyped portrayels of people lead to people not only believing them... but to actively dislike that group of people.

 

I grew up & live in England and believe me, I know a fair amount of people who believe that Mudflap & Skids in Revenge of the Fallen are more or less just an accurate depiction of Americans from the South, is that really how you want such a large swaith of the population to be considered... like this?

 

As for the shortfalls of the movie, there is a lot which is quite indefensible such as poor writting with oversimplified 'catchprase' laden dialogue and plotholes falling out of the yazoo. While it slightly won me back with being less childish and featuring more Transformer screentime and hidden referances... as a movie in itself it's a fail. As a CGI fightfest however it's a win.

The twins were forced and ended up lacking any actual comedic impact. They were lame and dumb. I don't care about the stereotype issue, I just want them gone. Put them in the background were they should have been and allow more interesting bots to stand out.

There are black protestors in providence who want to change the name of "Providence Plantation" because apparently Plantation is a racial word now. I got two words for these people, BLOW ME!

For Bay to not even recognize the possibility that the Twins could be misconstrued as a racist element is neglectful to say the least, if not insensitive. Do I think it was done intentionally...of course not, but it does show ignorance on the part of Bay, the two voice actors, and the robots' designers.

 

Now while I'm glad the writers are willing to acknowledge that this wasn't part of their script, I personally don't think Orci & Kurtzman should have a hand in any other Transformers scripts. I normally like the material that these two writers create, but they're contribution to the Transformers storyline is seemingly lacking in direction, dialogue & other like elements that produce good stories. And Bay's directing style does nothing to strengthen these weaknesses.

 

Their last statement concerning a third film not being the finale to this particular arc of the franchise is a bit frightening given what we've seen so far. And it doesn't sooth the senses when they acknowledge that no one has any ideas as of yet concerning a third installment...that just seems to further enforce the disjointedness of these movies in respect to having any connection to one another.
