When it comes to the movie series, I know Hasbro has certain characters that they want to be put out there, (Prime, Megs, yellow kid appeal character, etc), and then Im sure Bay gets a great deal of pull behind who else he wants. But in an instance like the twins Skids and Mudflap, both of which bear no resemblance to former Skids of Mudflaps, did he just pull those two out of a Hasbro name hat? What was his reasoning behind choosing those names when he could have just as easily came up with all new names for them.

On to another point, there are LOTS of badass names that I'm sure Bay would like, but surprisngly hasn't used.

- Warpath

- Blades

- Blitzwing

- Scourge

- SHOCKWAVE

and I'm sure there are others that would be welcomed additions. Any thoughts?

A lot of it has to do with maintaining trademarks on certain names.

Thats a good point.

True, but I think he was more surprised at how Bay hasn't snatched up those, to put it, "AWESOME" names right off the bat, and how he decide on what names he has picked for the bots that had already gotten personalities and designs that aren't "set in stone" by Hasbro.

I wonder if he even gives it much thought for supporting characters, or just hands that off to someone else...maybe the animators?

Or Spielberg.

...Possible Hasbro. :tflaugh

Bay - "Hey Hasbro, I'm putting in this giant aircraft carrier Transformer in the next movie. I need a name for it, any suggestions?"

Hasbro - "What about Tidal Wave?"

Bay - "Nah, too obvious. I'm just gonna call him...... Laserbeak."

Hasbro - "........wot?"
