I've been thinking about thee attempts to make a combining Devastator. And I wonder if using the G1 set-up might be better and easier than the movie way (which actually seems to be quite a merge rather than a set arm piece, torso etc.).

True, unless you just mixed things up.

 

Mixmaster and Long Haul as the legs, Demolisher as the torso/waist, rampage as an arm....someone else as an arm. The flat bed truck (or whatever it is) as the shoulders and maybe a head piece. It wouldn'tbe G1 and it wouldn't be Movie, but it'd be Devastator.
