Tom Hanks as Optimus Prime? I can just imagine...

Yeah, they ruined the last one! I mean "Mr. Spock" as Galvatron, who were they kidding?! And the greatly respected Orson Wells as Unicron? Crap. Obviously. And pulling in a popular music artist like Weird Al to do a song? Stupid. The people who made those choices ruined TFs 4EVER!!!!!!!!

At least that's what someone who hated the movie based on that would say. Get a grip people. Celebrity voices will not make the movie terrible. I could make it awkward. I could make it suck for some people who can't get over a certain voice is from a certain actor, sure. But for the most part how the film works overall will depend on most of the other elements... plot, setting, mood, dialogue, special effects (CGI), characters focused on, and the overall job of all the key voice actors.

 

Tom Hanks? Can't do it? Don't count those energon cubes before they're full, people. How about Mark Hamil as a voice actor? Most poeple said the same things you're saying about Tom. But now he's well respected in the field. Or Michael Keaton as Batman? I heard a lot of flack over that, but he was ultimately well received.

 

I'm also unsure about him as Optimus, but I'm not about to pass rash judgement either.

Intersting, if ultimately erroneous opinions!

 

The reason why famous peeps were used for the voices was because they were NEW characters. If they had chosen spock for the voice of Prime, I doubt it would have been popular.

 

And I actually liked the post movie voice of Galvatron (show) as it was a closer to showing how off his cans he was.

Gak and Argh!! I just keep thinking of OPTIMUS PRIME sounding like Woody from Toy Story with the backdrop of a track like "You've got a friend in me...". There's singing and dancing,Tim Allen plays ULTRA MAGNUS with his trusty lazer arm ...and LOOK!! It's EMPEROR ZERD...I mean MEGATRON in a skirt.

Get an action star for this endevor like this. Dare I say it? Let the Rock play Daredevil's KINGPIN (wish I remembered his name) play OPTIMUS. You need someone with a good deep commanding voice for this one. :tftongue
