I can't imagine Hanks voicing prime

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The general public will see the Transformer movie being intended for snot nosed, peanut butter eating, apple juice drinking little pukes who i wish to slit thier throats because they can't be quiet for a movie. So no, not even if speilberg and tom hanks went on board with the project will it get general public acceptance.

not if its rated PG 13 or R(god I hope so)

I knew from day 1 that this movie would suck, but not THIS bad.......

Yah know to tell you guys the truth, as much as i would love to see alot of the orignal voice actors reprise their voice roles in the movie, esp. peter cullen with prime.  I dont think we should write off hanks just yet.  One movie comes to mind where he did a damn good job playing a role that might not have suited him to well all those years back.  Road to perdition, if some of you guys haven't seen it, there's no excuse, its a damn good movie and leads me to believe hanks could work out a pretty good voice for optimus based on the way his character acted and spoke in the above film.  All in all thats just my opinion, but if hanks does land the role i'm sure he'll do nothing but his best to bring optimus to life in the movie.

Agreed, and Hanks is a BIG transformers fan, I saw him do a 10 min. speech about it on Leno once.

 

His big complaint was turning into alt modes because he thought that "a giant robot was pretty good to begin with".

 

He and Spielberg work well together and if he is the lead I can definitely see him stepping up to the plate and doing well.

 

Hanks as Hound would be perfection though.

The only "celebrity" that should be in the movie is Casey Kasem.

Oh, come on people. Let's not get carried away here. Some dude grabs Hanks as he's on the way to something else and asks him about Transformers, and he gives an off-the-cuff (and tongue-in-cheek) response, and we're all like, "HANKS IS IN TEH MOVIE!!!11!11!!!1!" Clearly he enjoys singing the G1 theme song, but I was getting a strong "leave me alone" vibe from him as well.

Though it'd be great to have him in the film somewhere. I don't know his range of voice acting (outside of sounds like.... um, Tom Hanks) so if he could do a convincing, gruff Peter Cullen/Neil Kaplan impression I'd be pleased as punch to see him take the role. His association alone will cause a sensational boost for the movie.

 

Outside of pure speculation though, there's really no point in freaking out like SOME people in the thread have already seen fit to do. :roll

Peter Cullen is not going to happen.  He gave up doing violent stuff years ago.  Something about his kids, I think.

no he didn't. heck, he told us that was a load of crap himself and people still repeat it. He's also said that he WANTS to play Prime again. He loves the character since he's such a great role model.

 

 

On topic, Hanks needs to be cast as Sparkplug. He's perfect for the part.

Just curious but why do so many people not like Hanks? He's had great movies and is a well-reputable actor. I agree as Prime is a bit iffy, but why are a lot of you guys against Hanks for even being associated with the movie? He could do a few well-rounded voices, given the right motivation. Just curious as why some of you feel he should have nothing to do with the movie at all?

Yeah, read this myself... if Cullen was actually that "no-violence", then why does he attend so many TF conventions and tells fans that he would like to do Prime again? Nothing is worse than people spreading already debunked rumors.

 

On topic: Does anyone else find this a rather odd conclusion:

 

One, he is a HUGE Transformers fan/collector. A few years ago on a late night talk show he did his rendition of the Transformers theme song for all to hear.
