Alt Prowl Repaint

Recommended Posts

hey looks great!!!

i'm inspired enough (and save up enough to buy another alt streaks) to do an RCMP version for my own prowl!

it will be my first kit bash so i have some newb questions:

- i want to replace the rear wing with the higher STi wing, are there shops that sell only these specific parts?

- i took apart streaks legs to do a reversal leg transformation - a la jazz style - and i realized i'd want to paint the red legs other colours, but how do you take off the metal hinge joints? i tried poking them out with a small screwdriver... it's not budgin!!!

- the rear wing on streaks, i unscrewed all the screws from under the trunk, and i tried taking off the wing, but it won't budge! i was afraid i'd snap the wing off, so i stopped... but is this the right way to get the wing off?

- the wheels, how do you pop them off??? again i was afraid i'd break something...

TIA!!! you can PM me if u'd like... but thot i'd post it in the public if other ppl have the same problems too!

Thanks for all the compliments, guys!!

Type V, To answer your questions---

1) For a higher wing. Look for a 1:24 scale plastic of diecast model with a wing you want. Check usual places like Walmart, Target, etc., but also check Hobby Shops. You can usually find someting pretty cheap that will work.

2) For pulling pins, Bodycount had the best info. On each pin, there's a checkered textured part that holds the pin in place. Look at how the pins sit in the plastic. One side is generally a little more rough than the other. That's usually what side the textured part is on. You want to push the pin out from the other end. I use a small finishing nail and a hammer to tap the pin free on a block of wood. Once the pins a little ways out, use pliers to take the pin out.

3) It'll come off. Use a small flat head screwdriver to gently pry off the wing. Pry at the ends and the middle.

4) I don't take the wheels off. I just take the rubber off and tape them off when I paint.

Hope this helps.

thanks lobo!

really appreciate it!
