So I was thinking (I've mentioned this before, but thought I'd make a thread about it), if season 3 of Animated truly is the last, then the official Animated toyline will end right? Well Universe is supposed to come back after ROTF, would it be plausible to think that Hasbro could release Animated toys under the Universe banner for characters that we'd otherwise probably never see toys made for?

 

Kind of like how they are going back to update G1 and BW characters, why not go back and give toy incarnations to Animated characters like Rodimus, Cyclonus, Spittor, the Constructicons, Omega Supreme or hell even Femmescream.

 

Thoughts?

The Universe line is the Black Hole whence all toys that SHOULD have been made in the past or SHOULD have been made BETTER are now being spit out.

That's the fun of the Universe line. Since it's a "catch-all" for every series we could easily see some of these figures end up the line.

Totally possible, but I think they're going to continue Animated under a new title, just like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles went to TMNT: Fast Forward and then TMNT: Back to the Sewers. Or even how the Unicron trilogy was a continuing series over three seasons of different named series (or at least that's what I understand it was).

 

Exactly! Another example would be Batman The Animated Series (Crime Squad) etc.

There are going to be years of Animated repaints. I wouldn't expect any reivented figures though till after all those are done. All the later figures like WreckGar that are harder to find I think are gonna be more common in the Universe line then Animated.

 

Here's why...

 

Hasbro tells retailers, "new line is coming out, get ready". The retailers do just that, they fill there warehouses with the first couple waves of the newest line. So alright, come the release date, they're set to go!

 

A couple months later, Hasbro tells them "get ready for the next waves". At this point the retailers are gonna tell them to hold up cause they still have all the initial crap to filter through still. Animated sold well, but it still had ALOT of shelf and peg warmers.

 

So OK, now Hasbro is left holding this new stock, selling it in much smaller quantities, cause walmart is still trying to sell all those Lugnuts and Ratchets. Hence, Wreck-Gar gets a new box and becomes wave 1 of Universe 3.0.

 

If you want proof, look at CD Scattershot, during Cybertron, he was a later figure and harder to find among all the various repaints and clutter, Evac too. So now what do we get a couple years later, Hasbro's order for the figure filled in every color of the rainbow to meet their manufature demands and sell the overhead off.

 

The retailer who initialy passed up the first time around is now snatching up the figure because it's part of "a new line" and not the end of a tired title.

I don't think this has to do with re-invented figures, but a place for unreleased molds and/or un-produced characters to eventually appear.

Great idea and totally doable. We DID get various A/E/C repaints planted into the movie line, so such a move isn't completely out of the question.

I hope there's an episode in Animated where Prime and Jazz get fused together and then they make an Optimus Rhyme toy off of it.

I'd like to see a beefy leader class Lugnut and a mighty supreme class Blackout and Omega Supreme. A Cyb Mode Oil Slick would be awesome too.

 

I think that Hasbro would keep in mind the repaint the same mold clause, making a figure like Cyb Mode Ironhide would mean that a Ratchet would soon follow. Or a Cyb Mode Oil Slick repainted/retooled into a Cyb Mode Prowl. Same with Bumblebee, they could re-hash their kid appeal guy in Cyb Mode and then do Wasp or Cliffjumper.

 

I'd really like to see a voyager Cyb Mode Sentinel. His Cybertronian alt mode rocks.
