First Look Transformers Universe Deluxe Ratchet

Recommended Posts

Jesus Christ I can't believe this argument is happening over a couple of red stripes (because that's the difference between the Henkei and Hasbro versions in alt mode, which is how it appears in the package).

I suppose "painting the rims" is a strike against TakaraTomy as well :roll

What thread have you been reading? "The couple of red stripes" don't even make sense as a complaint for anyone to be making since both versions have them and the G1 didn't. There are agreat deal of other differences beyond the stripes. But boy is the eyeroll smiley getting a workout...

Aside from the stripe differences the difference in paint is minimal. Henkei Ratchet has a black crest, chrome gun, and red clear plastic. Universe Ratchet has a red crest, red gun, and clear blue plastic. The stripes are the most pronounced difference.

Yep and I think that Hasbro's stripes give him a more EMS look with the heart beat thing. Since Henkai's are completely straight They really give no indication of him being a rescue vehicle aside from the light bar. Keep in mind that the Red Cross now owns that + emblem which is probably why we didn't get it on either Ratchet.

Well I suppose YMMV and all that because honestly, the first few times I looked at the pic I didn't even notice the stripe difference. In retrospect this may be due to the photography and not the toy itself, but my issue was both with the other differences you noted and the sheer intensity of the colors.

GOD F*CKING DAMMIT!

Does every discussion about a new Hasbro product have to turn into a "HAZBLOW SUXXORZ /TAKAR RULZE" argument?

Hasbro makes toys for kids. Takara makes toys that have to appeal to people who spend 9000 JPY on girlie figures that have removable tops and plastic titties!

*is probably going to get Ratchet, but only because he's a 1984-85 Autobot phagg*

Getting the Hasbro version because I can stomach paying 8 bucks for this mold, not 30.

The only thing I can think of that would have made Ironhide, and Ratchet better would have been their best possible modern vehicle mode. The Dodge Sprinter with the full height one you don't even need to modify it and you basically have an Ambulance. It would have worked good for Ironhide too. They have a good flat front so you have the windshield chest, and they're long enough that they could have been the height they should have been. Why Takara didn't use this is beyond me. So to all those who say Hasbro dropped the ball. You need to point your finger East or West which ever way is closer to Japan for you. Though I guess they might have chosen an SUV because they're more widely seen but really these things are the new work vans. There's even one on a reality show my wife watches all the time: John & Kate + 8. It's their family vehicle. Seriously how else do you transport 10 ppl comfortably. :tflaugh

Funny thing is that I since I thought the Sprinter was ugly the first time I saw it IRL, I actually prefer the non-specific SUV alt mode.

Japan FTW as usual. Still, I don't like the SUV mode of this mold. It looks wrecked.

But, sadly, not ruled.

So.... they make toys for Japanese people?
