Better View of Animated Strika, Rodimus

There isn't a single character on the show who isn't two-dimensional. So if that's your criticism, then welcome to it. This is a cartoon for young kids.

I understand that. What I mean is that it's a sliding scale.

All the characters have 2-D personalities. Prowl seems to be the only one who's stuck in the "I'm the _____ guy" phase.

Optimus Prime's the inexperienced leader thrust into a dangerous situation. He's also grown as a leader though, from being overly confident, to doubting his abilities, to finally emerging as a capable commander.

Bumblebee's the kid friendly character who likes to go fast. He's also shown to have larger aspirations then what he currently is, and he showed a brief moment of regret when he finally learnt Wasp, the bot he had sent to prison for treason, was innocent.

Bulkhead's the big strong guy with the big heart, but we also have a neat backstory (him being from an Energon farm). We also see how he's grown in how he handled the Construticons. We also learn that he's actually Cybertron's premier space bridge technician.

In fact that last bit plays against his original 2-D characterization. Bulkhead actually succeeds in helping Megatron complete his space bridge just so he can prove to everyone he's not just a big, lumbering moron.

Ratchet's the cranky old guy. But we also saw in The Thrill of the Hunt that he's also been negatively affected by his war-time experiences, and that he's carrying a lot of emotional baggage from the Great War.

So yeah, if we look at these characters objectively, they're are still 2-D characters. If we look at them as characters in a kids' cartoon though, Prowl still comes out undeveloped. His biggest example of character development, A Fistful of Energon, was completely undone in the name of Prowl being "the ninja guy."

well, not if you consider his impetuous, non team playing, self importance early on. which the ep in question was meant to show him leading away from and growing responsibly.

Man, these character designs the artists crank out just kick ass. Why do they kick so much ass?

Well Rodimus might be new, but Strika just looks like a cel version of her Beast Machines incarnation.

Yes, ppl can get AWFULLY worked up about anything Transformers. Especially the wanna be leaders & followers. ;) (even me sometimes)

Or, stay with me here, sometimes people just don't like what they see. Seeing Rodimus with a bow 'n arrow just shot images of him appearing to the sound of medieval music into head.

Personally I would have preferred an emo angsty Rodimus instead.

True. Sometimes fans dont like what they see at all. AND sometimes they dont like what they see until later. I guess your not into Animated as a whole then?

(and the "stay with me here" was a tad insulting, i may have not grown up with computers *though im learning fast* & learns hands, but i have a high IQ for my intake on information. So i understand all things not electronic. Like ppl & what they say/mean.)

I like the writing (for the most part) and the voice acting, and I can respect the engineering that goes into some of the toys, but I just don't like the art style. And as much as, say Voyager Optimus, may be a good toy, I'm not spending $25 on a figure I don't even like the general look of.

Wait, does Rodimus have holsters?

Nope those are his wheels.. just upside down.

Huh... :shrug

Huh... :shrug

Maybe he tosses his tires like disc-weapons, like Copper Kid from Silverhawks.

Partly Metal, Partly Real'D!
