When you say "he's going to be a ninja" and "he's going to be Robo-Hood" you're essentially pegging the character down to a cliche.

And, again, the franchise has certainly been free of cliche personality types so far, so it sucks that Animated is going that way.

I'm all for remembering the past fondly, but I would also like to see some of the :wtf aspects left alone.

Rodimus as Robo Hood could go one of two ways in Animated.

If he goes the way of Jazz it'll be fine. Jazz is a ninja, but the ninja aspect doesn't define who the character is (as in, other then his weapon of choice and fighting style, he posses none of the cliched ninja character traits).

If Rody goes the way of Prowl, then he'll end up lame, IMO. Prowl's characterization isn't really anything more then I'M A NINJA, to the point where it interfered with the story at one point.

So he'll either make it work or come off as a Mary Sue. It's 50/50 at this point. We'll see.

So now that we've seen their official color scheme, anyone mind coloring in the sketches of Rodimus and Strika we saw earlier?

If you'll recall, about a year ago, people were declaring that TFA was going to be horrible, there was no way to have transformable show-accurate toys, and that they hated it and it was going to ruin the franchise FOREVER... going off one picture of Optimus Prime. :tfrofl People can get awfully worked up over pictures.

Also, I don't get the whole "Prowl's entire personality is that he's a ninja!" bit-- I thought his personality was that he was slightly snarky, somewhat quieter and more introverted than his comrades, but proud and intelligent-- if not always as wise as he'd like to be (or even like to pretend to be), since he's still fairly young and inexperienced.

I remember that. When all the "angst" was in the air 'a breath'n. I was one of the ones saying "AWESOMENESS another Transformers show!? And this time its USA based & not CGI??!!"I felt spoil'D

And i even liked the ONE prime pic we were shown. It reminded me of my one of fav toy/shows Clone Wars CN skits (old). And then there was light.

Yes, ppl can get AWFULLY worked up about anything Transformers. Especially the wanna be leaders & followers. ;) (even me sometimes)

Oh, I recall.

I was an early adopter when it came to :animated and the b!tching nearly made my eyes fall out of my head from rolling so much. Especially when the show actually aired and all of a sudden it was awesome.

Still thinks the Animated art style is :fail

I'll just agree to disagree about Prowl. He's into "zen." He wants to be "one with nature." His armour upgrades had Asian design influences. These are ninja character cliches.

During A Fistful of Energon he discarded upgrades that would have allowed him to go toe-to-toe with Decepticons, rather then training to use the upgrades responsibly. This is an instance where the character's two dimensional character cliche got in the way of the story.

To me Prowl's just the Ninja Rick of Optimus Prime's repair crew.

Or, stay with me here, sometimes people just don't like what they see. Seeing Rodimus with a bow 'n arrow just shot images of him appearing to the sound of medieval music into head.

Personally I would have preferred an emo angsty Rodimus instead.
