It is all just Prime to me be it big or small, dark or light, cheap and expensive they all have a place on my shelves. Truth be told, the only good choice is ALL when it comes to collecting. So for today's shot, we are taking a look at all of the Takara Super Collection Figure (SCF) figures that were made for the 1988 Super God Masterforce cartoon that was exclusive to Japan. Today's Prime shot is focused squarely on the post-G1 series confections from 2007 with gummy versions of the Cybertron / Galaxy Force, and 2007 Movie Protoform Optimus Prime. Sold as part of the Transformers 2007 licensing blitz by Cap Candy, these chewy treats represent the sticky side of Transformers collecting. Click Image to Read the Full News Story Now

Anyone's who checked out the Transformers made in South Korea has found a lot of strange things going on. Even more so than the Chinese, managed to produce some of the oddest spin-offs from Generation 1 and 2 mixing sizes, shapes, and colors. Some of them have become collector's items over the years, such as the 1997 Korean Oversized Generation II Optimus Prime that we've got a shot of today. Click Image to Read the Full News Story Now

Many who collected the Beast Wars toys have encountered the Optimus Primal Bat and Megatron versus pack that came with a mini-comic to introduce the series. Only to find, things didn't turn out the way they planned as the show debuted with and robot Gorilla and T-Rex leading the warring factions. Ironically, it happened again in when Takara Introduced the first wave of Beast Wars toys in Japan, they made another versus pack, Amazon Showdown: Convobat VS Megalligator VS-S1, with the same figure molds in different colors. For some of us, there will never be another Optimus Prime to match Takara's Masterpiece MP-1 figure. Many will argue that it is too big, heavy and is difficult to transform. These are all good points, yet it is not what makes this figure good or bad, it is that it set a new and very high standard for what an Optimus Prime toy could be. What's great about collecting Prime toys is the fact that you are not limited to just the Autobots. There is a lot to be had on the dark side of the Transformers Universe where we may encounter dark incarnations of Prime generally in the form of Nemesis Prime, but also as Scourge (Menasor), Shattered Glass, Black Convoy, and even Galvatron. Collecting Optimus Prime isn't all heroics and leadership. There is plenty of room for humor, though we don't get nearly enough of it. Today's shot takes a look at the funnier side of Optimus Prime with the Topps Garbage Pail Kids We Hate the 80s Series 1 #3B OPTIMUS FINE Trading Card from 2018. Topps is known for poking fun at things originally with their Wacky Packages stickers featuring crazy parodies of popular products, and then later the Garbage Pail KIds rife with their own crazy characters that take aim at the 80s Transformers Leader who's accompanied by the 2018 Mighty Muggs 2. The Transformers Pepsi promotion (see can below) to get an original Generation Optimus Prime toy with extra stickers for sweetening his trailer is, or was, a sort of grail piece for many collectors. Until G1 based versions were reissued first in 2005 from Takara as "Pepsi Convoy" in Japan. Then again, as the BotCon 2007 exclusive "Pepsi Optimus Prime" in America. While fans run hot and cold on the Transformers Armada / Micron Densetsu cartoon. One thing most fans agree on is the toys were really good. From the little Mini-cons to the then rather strange Leader class figures, they are still on many collectors' shelves. One of my favorite Prime molds was what we came to call "Bendy" Optimus Prime for his excellent articulation. Click Image to Read the Full News Story Now
