early 90's Transformers

Recommended Posts

I was wondering: did the Micromasters sell so poorly ? They are sometimes refered to as the decline of G1, but they are quite easy to find nowadays, even MIB or MOC. Maybe they were more popular in Europe than in USA.

BTW, I've always been interested in the early G2 toys ("-masters") with those european boxes without the G2 logo... No more G1, not yet G2... with references to the japanese cartoons on their boxes while nodoby in most of Europe saw them... quite fascinating ! I got into TF thanks to these very toys in my childhood in the early 90's.

Umm.. I think people got tired of Transforming robots in mainstream as far as state side stuff went.. kinda like how Pokemon was all the rage a few years back and now it seems like it's been shifted over to Yugioh or somethin else.. I dunno anymore ^_^*.. but thats just my standpoint.. around that time though I stopped buying G1 tfs and started looking at other things.. can't say what.. might of been TMNT.. but I don't remember..

I bought some Micromasters, but I got tired of the lack of detail and articulation.

To me micromasters, pretenders etc, just weren't real transformers like the ones I wanted, but never got. :/

I ended up with 20 or more micromasters, I think i ended up buying them at the christmas tree shops* For about 3 bucks a set, where could a 7 or 8 year old go wrong? Plus, the g2 toys were very cheap and allowances made it easy to collect.

*A bargain store chain in my area, for those, well not.

in europe tfs got a rebirth before g2 called "turbomasters"

I have a lot of micro stuff, even countdown and I think is cool. They just came out at the wrong time.

not many G1 tfs had articulation anyway

and I thought everyone blamed Action Masters as the decline?

(but I like AMs)

anyway, I stopped at the end of G1 because I felt myself too old for TFs (I was tupid, yes)

Well, I don't blame action masters for the downfall.. I'm still sticking with the saturated market idea.. even TMNT suffered some downtime before they were re-introduced.. and how many hairbrained schemes did those guys in the suits come up with before throwing in the towel? You can only go so far.. and when you reach the end, well.. it's over. Something new will come along.. and it was Power Rangers..

Never to old for TFS! NEVAH!! Hahha kiddin.. It's a hobby.. do what you like.. if you get back into it, you do.. no need to to be saying that.
