I have a hard time figuring out how I feel about that. It does present a certain degree of "realism" to have close-up shots of these super huge robot guys duking it out, and if you were catching it all on tape, it probably would be confusing as hell to watch. And part of that is the complexity of the robot designs, which again go for a more "realistic" vibe. But the problem of course is that this is ultimately a movie, and it has to work on that level. It kind of does, but only once you figure out who's who and what's happening where. And unfortunately Bay doesn't help the audience very much there.

I think it's more a case of him being intentionally vague so as to not leak stuffs...he's got that way about him in all the "Ask Orci a Question" threads I've seen.
