Lockdown's Poncho by Smooth Jazz

Recommended Posts

:clap That is pretty darn cool. Simple little project, to boot, too.

This'll certainly be my next Lockdown-related project after I do his hand-fix.

I can give a set of instructions for this, it's not hard:

1. Find the fabric pattern you want at a fabric store. This camo pattern was the closest I could find but maybe you can find something closer. You will need at least 1/4 yard.

2. Spread Lockdown's arms straight out in both directions and measure his wingspan. Cut a square in that size (mine was 8 3/4 inches but it may be best to measure yours to make sure).

3. Drape the square over Lockdown and use a Sharpie to mark where the neck and shoulder holes should go. Keep in mind the shoulder openings are wider than just slits since his shoulder pads are thicker at the base. Cut out the holes

4. (Optional) "Button-hole" the holes in the fabric using a sewing machine. It's the same stitch used on button holes in a dress shirt and it keeps the holes from fraying over time. If you don't know how to do this, you'll either have to refer to your sewing machine's instructions or just skip it. It may not even be worth doing if you don't plan to put it on and take it off constantly.

5. Cut out random triangular segments on the top and bottom sides to give it a tattered look.

That's it. In order to put the poncho on the figure you'll have to spread his arms out and point his shoulder pads straight up. Once it's on, the arms won't be able to move forward and back much because of how the shoulder pads are connected to the arm. But beyond that, he has his full range of motion.

pretty dope bro. I REALLY like your Dracula BB and "fumagation tent" Bulkhead (wth BA) ;)

Kudo's!

Nice playful 'toon-specific mod, SJ - carries hints of both 'The man with no name' & Armada Scavenger, though the poncho in the show is a rough homage to the former's cloakwear. The others you & your lady did were cool too =)

Reminds me how TFA's influences are all over the pop-culture map - very hip I enjoy the nods & tributes to all other TF mythology / etc without relying solely on one homogeneous brand.

Well Done!

The costumes continue! This time, it's Lockdown's Poncho from "A Fistful of Energon".We couldn't find the pattern that Lockdown wears, so we settled on a camo print. But I think it came out really well.

Argh!! Ya beat me to it! Awsome job...might I make one observation however? I've got a screen cap up on the TV right now. It looks as though there should be slits down the sides of the pancho starting just under the shoulders. Seems as though his arms would show better that way. Just curious if that's something you noticed as well.
