Astrotrain QC issues?

Recommended Posts

So I've recently ordered the Hasbro Classics Astrotrain after being awed by the many reviews I've seen of it on Youtube. From what I've seen he's absolutely spectacular.

Then today I noticed something about the reviews. In each and every one of them the arms come off of the balljoints at least once.

Are there any horrible QC issues with Astrotrain or were those reviewers just incredibly unlucky?

I've looked up QC issues on Astrotrain on Google and I found nothing, so I assume it's not TOO big of a problem.

If anyone has any information, give me a shout.

I've never had an issue with mine personally and I transform him quite a bit... Maybe the reviewers were nervous :P

Ah, sweet.

I wish they would found a way to use double and triple ratcheted joints on a smaller scale(deluxe) so that we could finally just ditch ball joints once and for all, though. I'm tired of my TF's getting loose after only 10 transformations.

Then again, ratchets that small would probably be prone to breaking as well.

Oh well, I guess I'm happy enough with ball joints.

I've never had any issues with my Henkai astro saying that I did hand it over to a guy in my old class who collects all sorts of crap who then popped the arm right off but he plays with them far too aggressively like he is trying to do it while being timed...

the arms are kinda gimpy on my classics astrotrain.... they pop off easily but go back almost as easy....

not counting the botcon seekers, astrotrain was definatly the loser of classics

It seems that people either love or hate the figure. Just because of how clever his shuttle mode is I've convinced myself to like him no matter what, but I'm going to be keeping my super glue handy.

Thanks for the replies!

I have two, one for me and one for my seven year old son. Never had a problem with either.

I just got him in the mail today.

Damn, he's a sexy figure.

The train mode takes some getting used to, but it's not bad.

The shuttle mode is pure sex, though. I love how the train parts are hidden, it's perfect.

And Robot mode is badass. The only problem I have with it is that the train parts get in the way of his elbow articulation a little bit. He does have a bit of diaper syndrome, but it's not as bad as it was on Ramjet.

Overall, he's my favorite from the classics 1.0 line (I expect Octane to be my favorite of classics 2.0, though I have a sinking feeling that he'll be disappointing). Most of the classics have something sort of fiddly on them that drives me nuts (Voyager Prime's arm panels, his head, and his back, for example) or just don't feel very solid (Mirage for example. Though I love him, he just feels like he'll break at any time). But Astrotrain feels very solid and only his tail is fiddly, and only slightly at that.

His right arm was loose and wouldn't support the gun without flopping to the side, but I just stuck a piece of news paper in the ball joint and it's good now. A very useful tip I learn from a Movie Dreadwing review. Overall, he has the most tight joints of any transformer I've ever had and none of them are too tight. It works very well.

I give this guy an 9/10. I'd give him a 10/10 except for his train mode. If his train mode were unavoidable he'd get a 7.5/10, but since I can ignore it when I want to, he gets a solid 9/10.

try pulling the shuttle bits out to the side of the arm, it sounds to me like you've not pulled them out all the way.
