What exactly are you expecting to see? I've been re-watching Beast Wars again because the kids busted out the DVDs, and one thing that struck me is that the whole "Primal grew as a leader" thing is a total myth.

I think the whole "Primal grew as a leader" thing was accomplished in two ways that had nothing to do with his personality.

1) his crew actually started following orders and DOING WHAT I GOD DAMN TELL YOU TO DO RATTRAP

:tflaugh this made me laugh because it's true

Rattrap was not a sympathetic character for much of Beast Wars.

AZ: I think that Prime in Animated will grow into that type of leader -- if he is put into that kind of situation. Right now he's not in the kind of intense wartime situation that can cause rapid personality growth/change. He's managing a dangerous situation, definitely, but he's not a field commander or anything yet.

But we'll see what the writers have in store for him. I've no doubt that he will rise to the challenge (he's Optimus Prime, lol).

One thing that has stood out to me is the way Prime bungled things during the "Megatron Rising" two-parter. I think it was an honest thing to do with the character, considering what his real experience has been. Not to mention his confidence level, considering that he's got to be more aware than anybody of the fact that he's a "Prime" who is also an academy washout who's been stuck working some shit job with a bunch of rejects and burnouts.
