Jungle Cammo Ruination

Boo yaa

7 hours of work and its done.

I dyed it green from that ugly yellow universe version(the "stripes" turned out great after every thing was said and done).

And I used this Black Metallic spray paint for various parts.

OK man, you are going to document EXACTLY how you did that so I can do that... I want that exact custom... never died before, so you'll have to be specific.

absolutely great job man.

Dyeing is pretty easy.

You need to go to a store and buy some RIT dye. I used Dark Green, I think.

1) Disassemble every thing. Do one bot at a time and put all the screws/everyting into a plastic cup(for temporary storeage) to keep everything for that bot in one place. (Additional notes on reassemblly later)

2)Get a sauce pot(what ever its called) It should be about 5 or 6 inches deep and just as wide.

Make sure the Sauce pot is METAL LINED. No special anti-stick crap, must be metal. Im lucky I found an old alluminum one at a Garage sale. Any special linings will ruin the pot and the plastic.

3) your gonna need a "cool down" bucket. Metal or Glass is preferable here. Ill explain why plastic is generlly a bad idea later.

4) Gather the rest of your materials.

I use a small Pasta strainer

Metal spoon (with slots to allow drainage)

Suran Wrap

Paper Towels

Black Metallic Spray paint.

Fine detail model paint brush

Silver Model Paint

Red Enamal Model Paint

5) Fill Sauce pot till the water level is about 1 or 1.5 inches below the rim.

6) Bring the water to its ALMOST boiling. You want a small amount of bubbles forming on the bottem of the pot. Put the RIT dye into the hot water.

Note this is called the heat method.

7)Put parts you want to dye into pasta strainer. Also, you might want to run them under hot water before dipping them into the dye. This will wash off any thing that will effect the dying processes.

8) Dip the pasta strainer into the hot dye sollution. The Hot water will heat up the plastic and the dye will slowly creap into it. You only want to dip for about 10-15 seconds, even less for thinner peices of plastic.

9) once in the Hot sollution, take it out. and dip it into the cooling bath. I put my cooling bath close to my pot, I also have the suran wrap down inbetween so it dousn't drip and stain any thing "expensive".

Make sure you dump out the cooling bath water every few minutes, if your are using plastic. Even cold dye water will stain plastic if it sits in it for a long time.

10) Once you got your plastic part(s) to your desired shade of whatever, put them aside and let it dry. I tend to use styrofoam plates. The plastic tends to get darker once everything cools down. If its not dark enough you can dye it some more.

10) Paint the Bruticus parts with the Metallic Black spray paint. One coat should do it. You can also use a very light application to get a metallic glitter effect with out signifgantly changing the color. Practice on a few items before hand.

11) Let everything dry and do detail work. Use your model paints to add detail.

12) Reassemble. BE CAREFUL! I can't stress this enough. Be gental with the screws. They are cheap and wear out easly.

Try not to lose any screws.

DO NOT put Vortex'es Rotor assembley on first.... thats the last thing you want to put on (lession I learned the hard way)

Also, Practice on some cheap knock off first. It really helps you understand it more.

Love it :thumb

I hated the 'tiger force' paint job he got in TFU :tdown

Yours is a big improvement :thumb

Rockin! Thanx mate, will definately try this sometime this week.

wow, this is one of those cases where dyeing was the way to go :nuts

I absolutley love it. Too bad Hasbro gave us "Pukeination" instead :P

Now that's how it's supposed to look!

Great work man
