SEE BELOW FOR THE RULES! :D

Hi everyone, hereby included is the announcement for a huge Transformers artcontest coming up at http://autobotcity.deviantart.com

If this could possibly made a sticky, that would be great, thanks. :)

With the arrival of several new members, we've already crossed the 120 members line and are continuing to push this amount up! Very soon I expect an even bigger boost coinciding with our new Autobotcity contest, which might be the biggest contest, or at least one of the biggest contests, we're EVER going to hold here at the City! :D

That said, I'm happy to announce that I've been able to organise TWO major artprizes for the upcoming contest: one for the winner and one for the runner up. The contest will (if all goes right) start on monday. You will be surprised what we've got in store for you guys and those artists helping us out with these prizes, will be drawing in their own spare time just for you! :D

I would therefore already like to thank DON FIGUEROA, JOE NG and JOSH for their contributions which will hopefully make this contest a huge succes! :thumb

Considering the size of the prizes, the contest will be tough, but I think that it will be very much worth the effort!

I would like to wish you all a lot of good luck on the coming artcontest!

-Hans

Co-Founder of Autobotcity

FURTHER DETAILS ON THE ACTUAL CONTENT AND SUBJECT OF THE CONTEST WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY!

NOTE: you will only be able to enter if you're a member of Autobotcity, for that you will need a deviantart account and you will have to contact us in order to join if you haven't already. In order to join you just have to make a comment on, or send a note to our Autobotcity account, or send one of the founders a message. :)

Official Autobotcity Micromasters War Within Redesign Contest

Dear Citizens of Autobotcity,

Presumably you will all have heard of Dreamwave’s War Within comicbook line, which made an incredible impact on a large part of the Transformers fancommunity. Its impressive redesigns of the classic G1 characters rocked certainly my world. Some bots made their appearance in their known Cybertronian form from the old cartoon: For example: the Tetrajets (the Seekers), Bumblebee and Wheeljack. Next to those, dozens of other Transformers went through the nostalgia rush and we were finally granted a look upon their old Cybertronian modes. However, with Dreamwave latest comicbook series, Transformers: Micromasters, which was situated 4 million years ago, in which writers McDonough and Patyk, and artist Rob Ruffolo focused on a story where mainly the well known G1 formats were shown. This is where we got our inspiration for the coming contest! With artprizes by Dreamwave’s very own War Within artists DON FIGUEROA, JOE NG and JOSH, we present you:

THE MICROMASTERS WAR WITHIN REDESIGN CONTEST!

This will be one of our biggest, baddest and probably one of the hardest design contests Autobotcity will ever organize. The goal of this contest is to redesign a set of Micromasters in to the War Within Cybertronian style. However, there is a Catch 22. You cannot only redesign your favorite Micromaster and be done with it, no sir! There’s more to it than meets the eye:

RULES:

1 Only already EXISTING Micromasters and their bases may be redesigned to their War Within modes. No fan made characters are allowed. Any continuity versions of Micromasters are allowed (US, Japan, but also TF: Universe).

Check out http://www.tfu.info/subgroup/micromasters.htm for all Micromasters and their profiles. Also you can check http://www.tfu.info/ID/Micromasters/index.htm for identifying Micromasters if you forgot their names but remember what they looked like. Thanks goes out to tfu.info for providing this option.

2 Our most important rule, read this well: If you want to redesign one particular Micromaster, this also means you will have to redesign ALL of his sub-group (if there are any) and ALL other objects/accessories that came with the toy! This means that if for example, you want to redesign “Big Daddy, you will have to draw the ENTIRE Hot Rod Patrol. But on the other hand, if you want to redesign for example “Greasepit, you will have to redesign his Fuel Depot-Micromaster base as well.

Check below their TFU profiles in the availability line with which other Micromasters or bases the robots were available. But if you accidentally forgot about anything we will inform you and you are allowed to update your submission when you’re done.

3 The designs should be fully transformable, functional, and recognizable. Do note that you do not need to come up with far more complex transformations than their original molds, but that their design should in the War Within style this time around.

4 You may enter up to 3 times. If you want to update your entry you can also do that.

5 It is preferred that you enter all your drawings for one entry in one image for easy submitting, viewing and judgment. Don't forget to include your (account)name in the submission. When submitting please name the entry: "WW Micromasters Contest Entry #..."

6 Other art requirements: Altered art is NOT allowed, original art only. You may enter sketches, line arts or fully worked out colored versions. The designs are the most important, but remember that a good, (semi-)professional looking presentation is half the battle. No cooperative art will be allowed either due to the nature of the prize (you can’t sent one sketch to two different people unless you’d copy it).

7 Deadline: The contest will start Monday August the 23d and will end on Sunday October the 17th. All in all you’ll have EIGHT weeks (or roughly two months) to complete your entries, don’t start too late, because you might just become overwhelmed.

8 Again, only members of Autobotcity will be able to enter. However, of course you may join Autobotcity at any time.

PRIZES

The winners will be selected by our War Within experts DON FIGUEROA (penciller for War Within volume 1) and JOE NG (penciller for War Within volume 3).

First Prize:

A redraw of your winning Micromaster entry. Half of which will be drawn by DON FIGUEROA, the other half by JOE NG. JOSH (colorist for War Within Volume 3 and many Armada MTMTE-profiles) will color these line arts. You will also receive the original line arts by Don Figueroa and Joe Ng! So if you for example drew a patrol, two of its members would be drawn by Don Figueroa, and the other two would be drawn by Joe Ng.

Second Prize:

Exactly the same as above, except that Josh will not color it.

*unless maybe if you go to Josh and look with very big puppy dog eyes or something, but you’ll have to get him that far yourself ;)*

Again, we would like to thank the artists who are contributing and giving up some of their spare time in order to draw you these images!

If you have any questions concerning submitting, prizes, rules or joining, please comment on our journal, note us, or try to contact the contest staff and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We would like to wish everyone good luck with entering the contest, but don’t forget that the most important thing is to have fun and show off your creative designing skills!

Cheers and may the best bots win!

Will you be paying for buying Fort Max and then shipping him probably internationally twice? :P

"The world does not exist of toys alone, for there's also art about toys."

Normally you'd have to make do with one of my or other crappy art, this is pretty special for a small, unsponsered, on volunteers based Transformers club. :)

Heck, it's a bigger prize than what Dreamwave gave away on their own artcontest. ¬_¬'

well this forum had a contest and the prize was BWI Galvatron. and with all this hype and secretcy I couldn't help but think it was somthing bigger.

But that prize was also being offered up as "payment" for making a drawing of the guys character...

Dude, you suck!

First of all, you can find BWs Galvatron for $15-$20. Original art by Joe NG or DON is about $100-$1,000.

But that prize was also being offered up as "payment" for making a drawing of the guys character...

ahhh I see *draws WWI Sixwing*
