To be honest I'm not sure that Snarl was established as a character when they started making the movie, since the movie was started before Season 1 of TF's was ever completed.

I did not know that!

I never thought of this either. I just read it.

"After the Decepticons retreat from Earth, Astrotrain requests that the Decepticons jettison some weight while they are on their way to Cybertron. Must be he forgot that in space everything is weightless."

Watched that movie several times and that scene made perfect sense.

maybe it is because he had to use more energy the amount of con inside of him

I think this story has explained the odd occurences the best:

Transformers The Movie, What Really Happened by Velvet Glove

Amusing, I like this one. :tflaugh

"After the Decepticons retreat from Earth, Astrotrain requests that the Decepticons jettison some weight while they are on their way to Cybertron. Must be he forgot that in space everything is weightless."

There was artificial gravity inside Astrotrain. I dunno how, but there was.

The only thing I can think of why Astrotrain needed to jettison some weight in space is if he was in the gravitational pull of a stellar body. And to escape the gravitational pull with his current payload of passengers he would have burned up all his extra fuel. And if you notice he was flying erratically as if he was being pulled by something. Hmm maybe someone remember Unicron said he summoned Megatron, could this be how Unicron set his meeting with Megs in motion? Anyway it’s just a thought. :tflaugh
