Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Ratbat, Squawktalk Take Flight

Recommended Posts

a little something I whipped up last night while waiting for some decals to dry.

Do you have any flying decepticon cassette tapes?

Do you love them but just don't know what to do with em?

Are people always making fun of how you display em?

Have you informed your local authorities and received blank stares?

Have your parent's told you to get a girlfriend, boyfriend or (hermaphrofriend)?

Well, if you want to and if no one else can help, maybe, just maybe .... I... can help....you...help yourself.

You can call on this tutorial.

Hi everyone, this wheel_jack you might recognize me from such threads as the one's I posted in.

here we go.

-you'll need clear piping, a cutting tool, some styrene, a knife, glue, a hobby propane torch, your tapes of course, and a spray paint cap. You might also need some plumber's putty.

-figure out how high you want your cassettes floating above your other toys. cut to appropriate lengths.

-using your torch, heat the clear rods SLOWLY while holding them at the desired curve. I suppose you could just use a lighter if you don't have a torch. hold them until they cool. repeat as needed.

-drill an appropriately sized hole in your spray paint cap and insert your clear rod. test it with your cassette tape before gluing in place. if you have putty, put some around the clear rod inside of the cap.

-I should note at this point I used a bionicles part that I had laying around and it worked perfectly. I should also note that I'll have to let you know the size of the clear rods and where that part came from later. They're at the studio.

-ok, as pictured below, three of the tapes fit perfectly into the rods. Squawktalk required a little styrene cut to fit between his feet to prevent him from falling. The part was glued to the clear rod.

-the base of all this, I glued to some styrene because it's heavy enough to fall over. that's it. it took 30 minutes.

Ok so this tutorial kinda sucked. here are some images.

I have it somewhere...I'll PM it to you later upon remembrance.

I don't suppose this could be used to do a pounce pose for ravage steeljaw and ramhorn?
