I agree. It's funny, you would think that a G1 Galvatron color scheme would be just what this figure needs. And yet.... I've seen this and several similar kitbashes, and every time my response is "eh." I don't know why, but it just doesn't do anything for me.

 

Maybe it's the fact that G1 Galvy ('toon, not toy) looked like a bodybuilder in a robot suit. Everything on the guy was rounded off. E Megs doesn't have that look, and I think trying to make him look more like G1 Galvy only reinforces that fact. I say the original E Megs colors were great -- the whole "Mr. Freeze" aesthetic worked very well for him. (Especially the white -- it's the color of death in the Orient, and it's kind of a cool look for a guy like him who's been "reborn," but not in the happy, Easter-y sort of way.)

Eh, I still like it enough to buy it though...I guess it's people like me that fuel these repaints. :D

I like it. Better than the white version? I dont know, they both look pretty good. This just brings the G1 homage full circle.

i really like my e megs, but i'm not digging this repaint

I like this repaint, but to bad he lost a few detail coloring that Megs had, like the circles at the base of his arm joints, the Energon port/Spark paneling, a universal shoulder look (the purple just doesn't look so good without it being on some kind of higher panel), the foot thruster, the wing cannons, the silver detailing on the wings and the battle damage on the tank.

 

Then again, the new paint apps are good and original, and I like the new colorscheme for the cannon. It's weird though that just as with Checkpoint ("Swatimus"), they gave him a bigger faction insignia...And it's even weirder that they did it because he already had a sculpted symbol...

 

Oh, well. At least it's waaay better then the mockery that is SL Super Galvatron... :tfpuke

i personally liked the black/grey/green one. this one I might get if I can get it for $25 or so.
