Sounds cool but when are they going to start selling it in the U.S?

Well has anybody seen it on Hi DEF? It should look clearer.

I think both the HD-DVD and BluRay will look the same on a similar setup. Its the audio track that would be different. But really most people don't either have the system or have the hearing to tell the difference anyways. Its really rare for people to have good ears for sound differences. After my time as a sound engineer I've been known to yell at people because they don't realise how bad their stuff sounds.

Well, it looks as if the 2007 movie will soon be on Blu-Ray, so with that said, it should be a matter of time until we see the U.S. release of the 1986 movie.

I just recently read and signed the online petition:

"Frank Welker as Megatron in the DVD release of Transformers 2007

film"

hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition

service, at:

I personally agree with what this petition says, and think many of you might agree that a Frank Welker option in additon to Hugo Weaver is benificial to all fans &

sign yourself.

Now someone needs to make this petition applicable to the future Blu-Ray release.

At what point does having an HD picture in old animation like this actually make it look worse?

I suppose they'd need to go back and do a new transfer, if that's even an option at this point.

They may have re-mastered it on Blu-ray, & hopefully fixed that pink hot rod glitch on the 20th anniversary dvd. Does anyone here own the Blu-ray version to verify whether the picture quality, or if anything, has been improved?

That ain't no glitch. Hot Rod *was* pink in the movie. (He was also pink in the 1986 toy catalog.)

He wasn't pink in the various VHS release/re-releases of the movie. The digital remastering of that 20th anniv dvd is a sham!!

There's no making you happy is there? The 20th Anniversary DVD release is perhaps the best, most detailed release of the movie to date, and it's a sham? Because Hot Rod's pink? :fail

Big Daddy's right. Hot Rod was pink in the original, and the pink Hot Rod prototype in the '86 catalogue proves that, at the time at least, pink was set to be Hot Rod's primary colour.

The probably changed the pink to red after the movie was released, and recoloured all VHS versions to match the final product. That still doesn't change the fact that he was pink in the original film, making the 20th Anniversary DVD an accurate re-release of the original.

We really need a facepalm smiley.

Hugo Weaving was brilliant as Megs in the live action film. Welker's Megs would have seemed corny and out of place.

All I said was Welker should be an OPTION, in ADDITION TO Weaver, to appeal to all factions of fans. You should thoroughly read my post, before making your smart ass reply, Agent ZERO. After all, Welker did do the video game.

Yeah, and he sucked in it too. I don't think he can even do G1 Megs any more. Weaving PWNS as Movie-verse Megs. Deal with it.

And no, they shouldn't add a "Welker as Megatron" option to future DVD releases. The Movie was, and continues to be, successful beyond even Hasbro and Paramount's expectations. If a few nut-job die hard fans refuse to by the DVD because the original Megatron voice actor from the 80's isn't featured, so be it. The movie, as it was made, is a huge success. They don't need to waste time, money, and resources to appeal to fringe fans that don't matter.

:word

I somehow managed to own three versions of the movie on DVD. There is no justification for me to ever buy it again.

That's what happens when you remaster something. The colors get cleaned up and you see it the way it was originally shown.

P.S. here's the 1986 catalog that Agent Zero mentioned:
