Don't you miss?

This is a sad commentary on the majority of the Armada line but it seemed that I was more excited about getting the collector sticker, and filling a spot in my card folder, than the toy itself.

* Note to Hasbro/Takara/Fleer/Topps/whoever... Bring back TF cards! They WILL sell!!!

I thought I read somewhere that they were gonna do transformers trading cards for one of the lines... what I want is for wizkids to make transformers heroclix, those would rock

Ah, the good old days before environmental awareness...
Didn't that have more to do with product placement and cost? Ultra's and Mega's still come boxed. Maybe I missed an article somewhere. Please fill me in? :)

Back in the "old days" basically anything bigger than a basic got boxed. The old Autobot cars (equivalent to a deluxe) were all boxed toys. But, due to environmental awareness, and rising cost associated with packaging, lead to only mega and up toys getting boxed anymore.

I miss the days when five and a half bucks could get you a basic Transformers figure. Now, basics are 6-7 (sometimes more) dollars

steevy you are showing your age

but the good thing I noticed that now you can find deluxe size tf's in more places, I saw inferno and hotshot (surprised) in a kroger the other day and I bought towline and downshift in a kohls. it used to be (back in g1 days) that only basics would be there because of them being on card and peghookable

That wasn't totally true here in MS. Back in the mid eighties we had the G1 cars in drug stores, department stores, and pretty much any store that might have a kid come in. It was great!

The cool tech specs and bio info being on ALL the figures?  Remember the cool red "decoder" lens for the old G1 tech specs?  That was awesome and it was just a bonus cool thing that had nothing to do with the toy itself.  Now that's extras!! :clap

How about all but the smallest figures being boxed rather than carded? Ah, the good old days before environmental awareness...

Don't forget good old fashioned foam inserts instead of dozens of twist ties

The good old days! I always browsed the local CVS back then for their Tranformers. :thumb

Thank you sir. :)

Totally forgot about the foam inserts...

Loved the foam inserts, don't care if they were environmentally unfriendly I don't throw mine away (usually). It's a pain storing the figs in the box when all you got is the plastic ties. :tard Anyways I miss the specs on the back too. I guess this is but one reason why I buy the Takara versions, I like the packaging better. And as a MISB person with many loose TFs, I think I should be able to enjoy the box too! :thumb

Do thet still make robot points on the new toys? Them things you clipped and saved then mailed in for special Transformers.

Takara boxes still have robot points. you send them in to enter the lucky draw raffles and win a black or gold repaint of optimus or someone.
