Stunticon Deadend

Recommended Posts

Hi peoples. I guess I have egg on my face or my foot in my mouth. Take your pick. I thought I was done with this stuff. Seriously. I was so busy with work, school, and family, I thought I would never ever have time for it again. When I did give it up I was jonesing big time. Anyway, some time during the holidays opened up and after receiving some figs for Christmas I couldn`t resist. Plus my wife bought me a portable light studio for showcasing items and such. It came in really handy for my customs. But I do apologize if I mis-led anyone. I really did think I was done.

So. I do have some more customs done and almost done. I`m not bragging about how great they are, or if they suck. Those are your opinions and they will be respected. I just like to share with fellow kitbashers/repainters out there for feedback and/or constructive criticism.

After seeing some other works on here and other boards and the techniques that were used, it influenced me even more to pick up the brush again. Special thanks goes to Jin for inspiration in the way he paints. I used to paint my old Ral Partha Dungeons and Dragons figures like he does his custom action fugures, but I never thought it could work for Transformers. He certainly showed me what I was missing. So thanks again Jin, and others who utilize the same techniques.

OK. Enough babbling. My first repaint is Deadend custom painted from the 2008 Bumblebee/Cliffjumper Camaro mold. I painted with both acrylic and enamels. The car was sprayed with burnt sienna enamel and the bot mode was hand painted with a combination of acrylic and enamel highlights. I used a gunmetal shade for the dark parts to keep that dark feel and lined some panels as well. I used a color of red from Citadel acrylic paints that very closely mathces the car color for the bot mode. Then I drybrushed steel for the metallic look and went over that with silver for highlighting. Then added small details with a light copper and aluminum. The head if you haven`t figured it out is from Classics Grimlock trimmed here and there and painted to resemble Deadends motocross looking helmet. I gave him a new air-compression blaster as well using Movie Wreckages alt mode gun. I added a barrel to the front of it using styrene tubing for more length.

Hope you like.

Neither of the links work for me, but that one pic looks pretty slick. Grim's head seems to work well for dead end.

He's not mis-transformed tho is he? The back and shoulders seem a bit empty, but that might just be the angle of the shot.

Alt mode

No. He`s not mistransformed. I just folded the doors down his back to differentiate him from BB a little more. So yeah, it`s the angle.
