Which would be better...

Okay, I had gotten some of those knockoff, up-scaled WST's that were available at Big Lots a while back, specifically a couple Prowls, and had the idea to take one of them apart, repaint it, and actually make it articulated, turning it into either 'blue' Bluestreak (a personal fave) or an original character. I have planned out in my head what I need to do, but I have one major issue to consider:

Would it be better to completely replace the lower arms (and thus not even resemble the original arms) with ones of the same size from another bot (TF or not, I was thinking a small Gundam model), or to simply cut the arms apart and add the joints from an existing model? The advantage is I would know for certain the arm fits and it would still look like the original (obviously also replacing the fists), but the disad being every single place the parts are joined together adds a new weak spot.

The plastic in these things is surprisingly sturdy, but I want something I can transform back and forth, keep the G1 feel, and aslo have it articulated.

PS: I'm not even going to BEGIN to go into the issues I'm going to have with the head. >.<

Hrms... Well, it's been a day and no responses at all. No one has any suggestions?

Sorry, but I can't say - don't know what a WST Prowl is...

Back around summertime (Northern Hemisphere), there were a series of knockoffs that were WST's and Minicons scaled up to the size of a Basic. In the case of the WST's (Prowl and Red Alert, though RA was in various colors), this made them almost exactly the same size as the originals.

WST = World's Smallest Transformers. They were produced a few years ago by Takara, and are basically original G1's scaled down dramatically - for example, I own WST Red Alert and WST Thrust. Thrust is about the height of most minicons (though thinner), and Red Alert is about 2/3 the size of a minicon. Their transformations were slightly simplified - for example on Red Alert, the lower legs don't separate and the forearms are fused with the doors.

In the case of the upscaled WST Prowl, he's maybe a millimeter shorter than G1 Prowl, and his elbows do not bend, not do his feet / lower legs separate. However, being almost entirely plastic with only a few tiny pins here and there, they'd likely be a MUCH better base to work a fully articulated version from, thus my decision. I'd be doing the same with the upscaled WST Red Alert (with the lights removed) to make an articulated G1 Sideswipe, but I only have one and it might not be so easy to put the pins and stuff back in place without a guide. :D
