About Animated taking place in the "future".

Right, because they've hosed up the timeline so many times since Beast Machines that it isn't worth Starscreaming about, and the fact that we should be used to it by now. TF isn't ever going to be Star Wars so let's leave it at that.

Whether it's the NTD future or an alt-reality, i don't really care. I probably won't even think about it, much like i didn't think about when Teen Titans was supposed to occur, or the fact that Batman has been in his mid 30s for damn near a century.

And when the hell is Bart ever gonna get out of Ms. Krabappel's class?

The Not Too Distant Future doesn't bother me. I like the Not Too Distant Future. Robots run everything, we've solved Global Warming, Earth is at peace.

It's not like the Very Distant Future, where monkeys run everything, global warming has destroyed the ecology, and humanity's last survivors of a calamitous war are scrabbling for survival.

When they say that Animated takes place in the future, do they mean that it takes place far enough into the future that it's relevant to the plot and will be explored upon, or do they mean that it takes place just far enough into the future in order to dismiss the inconsistences with the real world? Because if it's the later then I'd rather just drop the whole "future" sub-plot and just assume that it takes place in an alternate reality that is a bit more perfect than ours.

I don't really think it matters for ten reasons:

1.) It's not tied into any other continuities.

2.) It's a cartoon.

3.) It's a cartoon.

4.) It's a cartoon.

Far enough in the future that we will have laser guns so that nobody uses bullets anymore.
But GI Joe had laser guns back in 1983!
yeah, but GI Joe is the code name for the I33t Special Foeces team dedicated to stoping COBRA, a fiendish organization bent on world conquest, so that's ok. I remeber one time Cobra trues to steal Black Entertainment Television, and then Cobra Commander was a snake, and Duke died, but he got better.

:lol
