Concept: Dreadwing movie drone repaint

Recommended Posts

Well, after intentionally passing him up on the shelves, I went ahead and picked up Dreadwing, and found I certainly like the figure more than I thought I would - cool jet form, oddly proportioned but otherwise interesting robot form. One thing that came to mind pretty quickly was a potential repaint idea (rough sketch, which "corrects" some of the proportions; final color scheme may vary):

I don't plan to repaint the one I have as I like the color scheme right now, but this one would look pretty good. I guess the head would be epoxy putty molded on top of the lens-face, with a panel of the fake cockpit part cut to give the head a place to go in jet mode. If anyone wants to try making a physical repaint of this homage, let me know...

:schin SOMEONE has a TFans thread about a head/face mod. Research it, .. from what I recall it LOOKED F-ing GOOD!

I too wanted to alter the DW's head, but gave up my concept-stage-only plans when MP-SS was released.

But previously, I gave DW energon Grimlock's claws for hands, they snap right-into the thrusters with no modifications, and even fashioned some leg extensions with wider feet -- they 'work' but aren't stable. Still have to work out the wobble bugs.

Colour scheme actually looks pretty close to the official repaint (What's it called again, overcast or overlord or something like that?). They're using yellow as the secondary colour instead of green. Maybe not quite thrust enough, but it might be an easier starting point.

The one done on here was pretty good, but they built the head onto the main body. Kinda surprised noone has modded one into the cockpit piece.
